I like the vest on you a lot -- it creates a really flattering and dramatic look. I figure it's something you would probably wear in ordinary New England use once every two or three weeks in the autumn, because it likely won't go under a coat and you wouldn't go for that same statement very frequently. However, if you're traveling southward a lot for business in autumn and winter, I could see it as a cool piece for focus groups because they're likely composed of people you won't see again.
