First up is the Eliza J Ponte Knit Fit and Flare dress. Substantial fabrication for cooler weather, and it passes the sit down test. I would need to wear a topper with it as I cannot go sleeveless even in the summer as my office is arctic. I tried it with two different toppers.

Second up is a pair of booties. They are suede, which I am not sure is ideal for my climate. They do not have a grippy bottom, also not ideal. The heel is 2 inches, which is at the very top of my tolerance. Also not ideal. They have cool archetectural interest and gold hardware. Despite all of their impracticality, I was all but prancing in them. I think these would pair well with dresses in the fall and early winter and then move to pants in the darkest depths of winter.

Honesty please! They need to earn a place in my closet. As I told DH last night "okay" doesn't earn a place in my current closet

That dress is so cute on you! And I love the booties. If they work with your foot, I think you should keep them.

The dress is lovely and I vote keep. I prefer it with the darker topper. The white clashes with the cream in the dress.

For the booties, are they comfortable? I keep very few "sitting shoes" in my footwear collection. I picked up a pair of suede booties that are "sitting shoes" for dressy occasion in fall, but I am still searching for a daily suede bootie with a lower heel as my workhorse shoe.

I love the booties. They are very flattering -- look at those pretty legs! -- and I say if they are comfortable, keep!! I think they will be okay for your commute. You commute by car, correct? That means low exposure to salt and wet.

I want to love the dress, too, and I do in theory, but I am wondering if the fit is a bit snug? I also feel as if this style would need a shorter topper.

I vote yes to both, the dress looks like it was made for you, and you just used the word 'prancing' for the booties. A cobbler can add grippy things to the soles, and I'm pretty sure he can weather-proof the suede.

Keep both! Not only is each individual piece great, they look so good together.

I understand your concerns about suede. I'm also in the Midwest and tend to wear my suede boots during the fall, before there's a big risk of ruining them with salt and moisture. Waterproofing spray helps, but it's no match for the heaviness of our rain and snow. See every college girl's Ugg boots if you want an example of what Midwest weather does to suede -- YUCK!

Sorry, I kind of went off on a tangent there! I know you are sensible enough to realize when not to wear suede.

The dress is darling on you (prefer the first topper), and the booties are so fabulous I can see why you're prancing in them!
I put some non-slip strips made for bathtubs on the bottoms of some of my booties, and they really worked. That and some suede protector spray and you should be good to go!

I agree with Suz on a shorter topper. Also don't know your line of work but would you be wearing hosiery with it? I'm perhaps a bit confused by the angle of the photos and so unsure of the exact length... but precisely because it is such a fun, flirty frock, I wonder if it needs hose to ground it a bit? Ignore if concern doesn't apply in your workplace of course!

Booties: keep! Now that you know they can be rendered quite practical

I love the pattern and overall cut of the dress. I am probably projecting my own issues, but would like to see a v-neck here. But it does look a lot more balanced when worn with the topper. Overall, much to love about it.

Shoes, I get that they're not ideal. But you seem so happy with them, so that is something to carefully consider too.

I'm not loving the dress but can't quite put my finger on why. Maybe as someone said it needs a shorter topper? I do love the booties. Are those the Joan & David booties? I have them in taupe and am trying to decide whether to keep them but I think they are beautiful on you in the black. Only you can decide on the comfort but "prancing" doesn't come around very often in my world!

I like the playfulness of the dress! A little more youthful and cute than your very structured wraps. And might be a nice change. Would also look great with tall boots.

I love the booties, but in the same breath worry greatly about the heel height as I know you prefer a one inch heel. (Me too!)

What a nice dress on you! I am not sure about the suede - I always wonder whether it is practical for our climate and usually end up returning all my suede boot purchases.

Avia - They are the Joan and David Booties! I kept looking at them, put them on my wishlist. Kept going back to them. Then saw Angie recommended them, so I pulled the trigger

I like the taupe, but it doesn't really work with my wardrobe in cooler weather. I love the black and gold.

LOVE both. The dress is beautiful on you and I like it with the white blazer, would also look great with a short cardi. Those are great booties- suede is so different now days. I have a pair of suede booties that I wear on the sandy, salty beach and they hold up nicely. The suede is usually treated and you can buy treatment spray and re-treat periodically. If you are able to strut around with the heel height in comfort then you must keep.

I was able to go into a Nordies last night and bought the Via Spiga booties. I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep those instead of the Joan & David but need to go home and try them both on again. The heel height thing is frustrating. I don't know how many times I've given in a purchased a heel height higher than I should have and have regretted it. So I say stick to what you know works. You'll find the right ones.

Thistle you do have gorgeous legs and ankles so I want you to keep those booties. Please apply a no-slip traction thingy to the bottom. You could also wear a pair of rubber boots when the weather is foul and carry a gorgeous tote bag to work, then change into these booties for work. They are the best piece of footwear I've seen on you yet. Modern, feminine, polished.

I like the dress with the black blazer for work. Worn sleeveless, it's flirty like for a date night.

Both pieces are beautiful and I vote keep. BUT if the booties are too high heeled, them pass. Can you try them on for a day at home before you decide? Could you afford using these booties as a test pair?

I think the dress looks good on you. I LOVE the booties and think you should keep them. I know nothing about suede and waterproofing (I live in a desert that's in a severe drought - it never rains anymore) but it sounds like others have good advice on that end. Maybe wear the boots on some shorter excursions or days at work when you know you won't be on your feet much to get used to the higher heel.

Outlier - I know you want honesty & I don't see the dress as a 10 - something about the fit or proportion. It looks a little snug around the bust for the length of the dress imo. I love the idea of it thought & the pattern.

I love the dress, but I am less happy with it with the toppers. They just don't go with it somehow. Maybe because the dress seems so flirty/festive that covering it up kind of messes with the look. I'm not sure I would like any kind of topper actually, but maybe the suggestion for a shorter one would work. Something dressy? These just look too casual for the dress, which looks like a party or special occasion dress.

I love the dress and booties on you. I like the dress best with the darker blazer, but I wonder if it would look better still with a shrug of some sort--a short sweater or jacket that doesn't cover up the waist so much.
I would worry less about weather and more about heel height with the booties. As others have pointed out, you can add things to the soles and waterproof the suede. I have surprised myself with some heels in the past--thought I couldn't go beyond X height, but then some shoe with X+ height came along and proved me wrong. Sometimes it's how they're made.

I love the dress on you. Would love to seea waist length jacket withit too. You have too many "not ideals" with the booties so skip those.

I think it will look good with boots, jean jacket, lace jacket ect...
