NAS Kenneth Cole black silk tunic: It's huge

I don't mean huge as in "a fabulous phenomenon," I mean the sizing runs HUGE.

I ordered a 0 regular and a 2 petite (they weren't offering a 0 petite) and they're both very, very voluminous.

Too bad, because the fabric is actually delicious: a substantial silk with its satin-y side facing inward. If you're giving this one a whirl, definitely size down.

No kidding! I am sizing down too. Did you notice the model on the Nordstrom website ... the seams were off her shoulders ... I am trying to figure out if it's supposed to be a dropped seam slouchy look or if it's just huge!

Lol--now I'm scared to get mine. I ordered my usual top size and boy, I'm going to feel bad if it fits! Just kidding. My top should be here tomorrow so I'll report back.

KG, your regular size might work if you're okay with a great deal of volume -- I can't manage that much because I'm short. For me, if it's tunic-length and also has a lot of width, it looks like I'm drowning in fabric.

Let us know if yours works out or if you end up sizing down! Either way, crossing my fingers that you find one that works because it's such nice fabric.

I think that Kenneth Cole just runs a size large in general. Both KC dresses that I bought this summer, I had to size down on.

I'm really disappointed because I was loving the idea of a black silk tunic. I considered having it tailored but it bothers me to buy something knowing it would need that level of alteration.

I have had the same experience April. I don't know how I manage to gain weight and be a smaller size at the same time. Both the Trouvé cardigan and the BCBG top I ordered were enormous on me. I commiserate (although I was planning to send the Trouvé cardi back anyway).

It has to fit on the shoulders, but tent-like everywhere else. If it had a collar, I would be all over this blouse too. I have a few silk tunics that are HUGE (like we could fit you, me and Maya in them) and I adore the look. Arty and edgy.

But alas, volume does not go down very well on this forum. I get that too though. It's an acquired taste.

Maya, let me know -- glad to hang onto one or both and ship to you if you're interested in trying out the look.

Otherwise, I'm going to return them both because I tried the smaller one on again last night and I just feel it looks infinitely better on me if I grab a big handful of fabric in the back, simulating a more tailored look. I see that that's not how it's supposed to fit, so I'll be looking for a more streamlined version for myself.

Angie, that's helpful input. "Tentlike" does not usually work for me, though I fully support your appreciation of volume. I even share it, I just have to reign in the silhouette somewhat for a 5'2" frame.

Volume doesn't bother me! But the shoulder seams on the 6P were falling off my shoulders - which is unusual for a petite size on me. I was able to size down to a 4P and will report back. 2P's were out of stock in the cream.

It's a really nice tunic, with heavy silky fabric. I am a bit terrified about the cream color and my knack for staining things, but am up for the challenge.

Apparently, I'm a linebacker. I have no problems filling out the shoulders in the 8 petite (as I had suspected.) It's a gorgeous tunic--I love it so much that I'm contemplating duplicating in the cream. I should probably post pics first--in case I'm delusional in thinking it's flattering.
