NAS Decision Time - YouLookFab Forum

My NAS items came very quickly this year, and I once they arrived I briefly tried them on then put them aside while we were away. Now I’m between vacations and it’s time to make the keep/return decisions. So today I turned the AC up, put on some fall clothes, and tried on the jackets I purchased.

First up is the Pendleton jacket. I really like it and it’s very warm, will be nice for cold autumn days. However, it’s a bit snug in the hips, even in the size M (pics 1 and 2). I think the wide band at the bottom is supposed to fit a little snug, but I still wish it was slightly looser. Pic 3 is the size S, the first one I ordered and sent back. It fit everywhere but the hips, wayyyy too tight.

Not sure if I’m keeping the size M (pics 1 and 2). Your thoughts?

Next is the shacket (pics 4 and 5). It’s generously oversized, warm, snuggly, and I’m in love with it! I could probably go down from a M to a S, but I’m not - I’m keeping this one. You’ll find me this winter in front of a fireplace all wrapped up in it with a cup of hot cocoa and a good book.

Last is the Kate Spade purse. Another definite keep. It’s bigger than I thought it would be and I love the thick, comfortable guitar strap.

So two keeps and one maybe. Now I just have to decide on the Pendleton jacket.

All great finds--I like the Pendleton jacket best. It will enter the room before you...reminds me of The Big Lebowski.

The purse is so great with your pink-streaked hair! And the shacket looks so cozy yet not overwhelming. With the jacket, I really have to say go with your gut and comfort level. I never end up liking items that are a smidge too tight in the hips (unless it’s a jacket that I never expect to wear closed), but I have that problem way more than you do, so I may be super sensitive to it.

I vote send the Pendleton jacket back. It's a cool piece and looks good on you but if you don't like the fit I think you won't wear it. The way you talk about it is SO different from your enthusiasm for the shacket! It doesn't sound like this fills a major wardrobe hole for you so I say pass, enjoy your shacket and purse, and wait for something perfect to come along!

That Pendleton jacket is amazing on you! Both sizes look good in the pics so you decide on the fit. Make sure you're wearing the right layers underneath!

I felt the same way about the other Pendleton jacket that I tried - it was so warm and pretty and well made that I was tempted to overlook that it didn't quite fit! I had to be quite stern with myself to return it.

The shacket and the purse are both perfect. Any jacket/coat that you can nap in has my vote.

Love the pink bag -- it's perfect with her hair! And wow, that shacket will be super cozy for winter, and also, won't it be great in late winter (March/ April) when you start craving spring colours but it is still freezing cold with snow on the ground? That light blue will make it feel spring-ready though it is a cozy fall/ winter piece.

Re the Pendleton - it looks fab, though maybe the sleeves are a bit long, but with the cuff, that probably won't be an issue. So I am torn. Your concerns about the fit make me wonder. The small didn't look super tight but I understand how any snugness around the hip can be a no in that style. So...I would wear it around the house a bit and deliberate. In terms of the looks -- it's terrific on you. Just a matter of needs and how bothered you might be by any fit issue. .

Thanks everyone for your input! We’re on the road again (traveling to NJ for my great niece’s first birthday party!) and when I get home I will try on the Pendleton with a heavier sweater and assess the fit again. I would expect it to be fitted at the bottom band, but not tight. It’s interesting there really isn’t much difference in the way the M and the S look, and although the M is bigger, it’s not as bigger as I expected it to be.

I have constant fit issues with banded bottom tops & jackets. Jackets are more fit- picky than blazers, because I never button blazers, so can tolerate a little bit of the mismatch I get by fitting the shoulders. But cozy soft jackets I often want to zip up.

I would do the arm - raising/ moving test & see if it rides up a lot & needs constant tugging into place. Because it looks like a jacket that should often be zipped, as that adds to its pattern strength & slightly statement appeal.

I think all three are winners and look amazing. While reading, my first thought about the Pendleton was if it’s not a heck yes then send it back. But then I looked at the photo and it just looks so good. So I’m no help whatsoever!

I love the colors of the Pendleton, but the length is hard to judge. Does it cover the butt? For me, and of course YMMV, a warm coat needs to cover the assets otherwise I find myself not reaching for it (lesson learned the hard way).
