NAS boot ?

Sitting here in the Drs. Office with my dad—said Dr. is 1.5+ hours behind schedule) but I’m trying not to lose my calm. Anywho, pondering the white boots that have been a HEWI and wondering whether I should opt for the more refined (all cream) or the more rugged (with the black sole.) I’ll probably order both but am wondering if either one jumps out at you, for me. Thanks!

I like the first pair more, but it depends what you'd pair them with. The black soles to me seem like they'd need black elsewhere in the outfit- but that's cause I'm Mrs. Matchy

The dark sole is easier to keep clean and good looking plus it would bookend your hair. OTOH, I like the warmth of the SE. Pikolinos have a reputation for running narrow, but DD tells me she has never gotten a good fit with SE. I am ordering both tomorrow, lol.

I agree with Donna re cleanliness of the sole and bookending / picking up your hair colour . While I love the style of the all cream pair , I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around the solid block of colour .

I think for you -- with your dark hair -- the Pikolinos. Also for your more casual style.

Such a tough call! I like both and could see you wearing either one of them. Streamlined, versus more going on, taller shaft versus medium. And the colors are different. I would get both and compare them with wardrobe items to see if one stands out as a clear winner (that is, if fit and comfort are good on both).

In the cream shades, I like the Pikolinos best. In addition to the dark soles, I like the darker-toned grommets.

Thanks, Fabbers! The black sole is what initially drew me to the Pikolinos and the fact that’s it’s not optic white. Agreeing with Suntiger, Suz, Grace, Runcarla and Sharan that it would work best with a dark bookend somewhere (my hair!) I have had great luck with fit with that brand as well. I’ve worn several pairs of their boots into the ground! In my experience, @Donna, I think they are pretty average in width. My feet are neither wide or narrow. The SE does appeal to me because it looks more refined but have a hard time with the large swath of white—especially with my dark hair. Lisa is on the same page! Thanks for helping me pass the time—I was done chitchatting—my voice gone from repeating myself (for my dad who is hearing aid resistant.)

I think the SE are for my imaginary life—where I’m not tromping through dirt and diesel. They’re just so pretty! Haha! Thanks for playing!

I am having the same problem and have collected both in your finds. Both have a zipper for easier on-off. I usually wear a US size 8M. Sometimes that corresponds to a European size 38 and other times a 39. If I have a choice, which size should I order? Both say they run true to size, our mall Nordstrom closed so I can’t just try on for size. Also should someone over 70 even consider combat boots?

Joy, my Pikolinos size is a 37 and I’m a US 7. I think the European sizing varies because I’m a 38 in Ecco. I don’t know why. I can absolutely see you in combat boots. I think they’d be fantastic! Go for it!

Such a difficult choice, because they are both fab!

I have some white soled boots (in Finds), which after wearing, I wipe down with a sponge if they look marked. This is my second year of wearing them, and they still look clean from a distance, but up closer, they are showing a few light marks despite my best efforts.

I have lots of boots I never wear white boots when I know the ground will be dirty - this is fine because I have others that can be worn in those conditions.

My vote is go with the ones that you like the most. Yes, the dark soled boots are more practical BUT you have lots of practical boots already, so it will not be too difficult to look after the all white ones if you prefer them.

I like Pikolinos boots more - the stitching helps define the shape better
( and looks more interesting to my eye ). Both boots are fun fresh take on fall footwear - hope to see some pictures from you soon .

I would order both pairs. Play around with styling and assess comfort levels. Make a decision.

I like the idea of bookending with the black heels. But you might like the refinement of the first pair. It can go either way.

@Bijou: My work environment is really not very suitable for white soles but if I used them as dressy shoes they'd have a chance to stay clean. Definitely provided me a dose of reality--as I'm not very disciplined when it comes to white shoe care.
Agreeing with you SC, that the Pikolinos did catch my eye first!
Angie, thanks! (It's more of the same with my dad. Improvement is slow--I guess what do you expect when you're 90. I think I talked him into looking into a hearing aid at least. It's exhausting having a conversation with him. ) I went ahead and ordered the Pikolinos and your shirt dress in white stripe. Will report back!

Ack, I love them both for different reasons, so . . . my comment is that for me, I would be wearing those with longer pants, and so the great ankle buckle would be hidden most of the time. Which would be sad. YMMV.

I am ordering the Edelman boots in ivory (a longheld dream of mine) and olive, to replace a pair of olive boots from days gone by. Also Edlemans, as it happens.

I've sat with my mother in many waiting rooms, and I know how hard that can be. Both of us were always anxious, which didn't improve our behavior.

Thanks, Roberta. Can't wait to see how the boots work out for you. I had talked myself into the olive only to find they were sold out in my size. Just as well. I think the Pikos are meant to be if they fit!
