I have wrote such a long post on my NAS fiasco

that my cry for help on ankle boots was not noticed there. I am opening this new thread just for this purpose.
Nine West grey taupe ankle boots. I am not sure if they work for me or not: I have never owned ankle boots before. I like them from the side but they look stumpy from front to me - but maybe it is eye adjustment? I have also included pictures of them with the skirt but I am sure I cannot wear them with dresses.

Sveta, I don't love them with the skirt, but think they are okay with the skinny jeans. The only thing I'm unsure about is that the color contrast is so high between jeans and boots. I'm wondering perhaps if they might be better with a medium wash jean, and that would negate the stumpyness that you were worried about? Just an idea. (Do you have white skinnies?)

Kari, that was my concern too. No, I do not have white skinnies - the lightest wash I have is faded black.

Also, take my comments with a grain of salt, please - I've always had a soft spot for knee high boots but have always had a tougher time adjusting to mid-calf or ankle-length boots.

I do think they are awfully cute boots on you, and though I forgot to mention it in my haze of pencil-skirt loving, I adore the top in your photos.

Perhaps I should go back and try this top rather than the questionable Classiques blouse.

I have knee high boots in a very similar color and they get a lot of use. I wear mine with light wash skinny jeans and any neutral or light colored top. Not sure if they are working with the skirt or dark wash jeans in these pictures.

Kari, looks like you and me are both ankle boot newbies Definitely try this top - it is 100% silk and just $45 or so. Also because it is long you can wear it both tucked in with skirts and untucked with pants.

Rae, I do not have anything lighter than my faded black leans - should try with them. I wonder if this is going to be very limiting to have only one pair of pants to wear with these boots...
Do you think they would work under dark wash bootcuts?

I already commented in your other thread Sveta, but I will repeat here, I really like these. I hope you keep them and as long as you have a light color somewhere in your outfit, these will work, especially with skinny jeans.

I do think they will work under bootcuts, as long as the flare can accommodate the shaft without and lumps.

Well, I do like this style. It is something I wear myself. I think that because these boots come up relatively high they would work better if the skirt were a little shorter. I also think that lighter wash jeans would work with the light color, but this works too, because they go with your beautiful new blouse.

I like them with boots, but could you get a darker pair so you will be dealing with less contrast?

I like them with pants but agree that less contrast would be more pleasing to my eye. With skirts I like ankle boots that follow more closely the line of the ankle and also with low contrast. I know this is a personal perference that not everyone shares.

I like them too, but they're much better paired with jeans. The high contrast works for me here, and I like how they pick up the color in your top.

I bought a similar pair of ankle boots last year and for some reason never could get over the contrast issue that works well on you. I've ended up wearing them under slight bootcuts or straightlegs and love them this way. I think you could do the same thing, making them that much more versatile.

I was at NAS yesterday and thought of you often, lamenting your disappointment. The BP 'Runway' wedge in cognac jumped out at me as something you might enjoy and wear a lot, though they are not ankle length. I also liked the Indigo by Clarks Water Row Bootie. Those are ankle length and might work with skirts or dresses, but we would need to see them styled to determine. The Tory Burch tall riding boots are pricey, but a very classic style. I think the sienna color would be fab on you.

(The Via Spigas are uncomfortable - you might want to give those a miss. But the actual silhouette suggestions that Kyle linked to are indeed versatile).

I really like the look of the ankle boots with skinnies, Sveta! But they need a lower contrast slim bottom - or your shoes need to be darker. Hope that makes sense.

MNSara/Rae/Taylor, I tried them with bootcuts but I am not sure if their rounded toes look good with them - maybe I need to post a picture?
Scarlet, I have an impression that their top hits me in the awkward spot ;a bit lower or higher would be different...but I am so new to this style that I may be completely wrong.

Heleen, that was the only color available in my size but I wanted to get something lighter for variety. However I see now that it can be hard for me to wear as I do not have light hair to bookend them like Angie does.
San, I usually do not like how closely fitted ankle boots which come above my ankles look with skirts on me. I find that extra volume on top balance out my thick ankles but in this case it does not work.
Beth, when I fussed with these boots I remembered your post on this matter and how you found them hard to style. I did not understand it then but now I do!:-)
Kyle, it is so sweet of you to think of me while shopping NAS! I tried the Water Row booties and liked them but the right one had some defect which gave me a bruise on the top of the foot after 5 minutes - and of course it was the only pair in my size. I may give them a try online though - I liked brown and dark grey.
I also tried on these Born booties you posted but they were too narrow for me and the heel felt wobbly so it was no go for me. I would give a try to another style you posted though - thanks.
Angie, I really wanted to get a lighter boot option to my collection. I will try these boots with my gret Martins and faded black leans and post pictures. Is this light boot/lighter bottom rule is for shorter boots only - can you wear light knee-high boots with dark bottoms? Thanks for the tip on Via Spiga ones - you saved me an order on them!:-)

What is the material of these booties, Sveta? If you like the shape/fit, can you dye them a la Rae? I think a couple of other folk have also done this.

They are suede, elpgal and I would not dye new shoes. I think I would look for other options but thanks for the suggestion.
