Naot sandals for a week in Stratford, Ontario

We're in Stratford Ontario this week for the theater festival. Before we left I decided I needed a new pair of walking sandals since we don't use our car at all while we're here. I bought these metallic Naot 'Kayla' sandals and, having already walked many miles in them, I think they may be the most comfortable sandals I've ever owned! They are definitely casual and not the most fashion forward but I've found they work quite well with dresses. I'm also using a pewter metallic bag this week. For anyone who's interested, these sandals are advertised as appropriate for a narrow to medium width. I take a medium width and they're fine. They do run small however so I sized up one whole size as suggested. I was thinking of Angie's blog post about "shoes that go the distance' and so thought I'd share my review in case anyone's looking for a really comfortable pair of walking sandals. They also come in patent leather as well as various other colors.

I bought a couple pairs of them, and love them! I agree that they are super comfy, and look fine with dresses. I have a third pair that Zappos gave me. I had ordered the metallic color, and orange patent leather came instead. They sent me the metallic, and told me to keep the orange ones. i haven't worn them this summer because of my broken toe.

Hooray for Naots! The Ashleys (on the same footbed as the Kayla) have been my summer go-to comfy sandals for many years now. I think I'm on my 4th pair. I haven't tried Kaylas for a while but I used to find the ankle strap on them too roomy for my low-volume instep, whereas the Ashley has elastic that holds it a little tighter to my foot.

I find ALL Naot shoes to run a full size small with respect to Euro sizing, I think this is because the Israeli sizing they use is not the same as regular Euro sizing. However, I believe their own conversion to US sizing (on the box) is more or less correct. For reference, I wear a US 7.5, which converts to EU 38, but in Naots I'm always a 39, which they convert to a US 8 (they use full sizes only).

My poor feet would die without my Naots! I wear the Pamela style and I have narrow, low-volume fussy feet. I find them quite stylish, Jill, and I like the metal color. Those (and the next two styles shown by Diana and mtnsofthemoon) are narrower than the Naots that fit me best. I agree you can't beat Naot for comfort, though! Glad to hear yours are carrying you style and comfort!

Nice to see everyone's Naot's! I just got back from another long walk around Stratford and am so glad I decided to replace my older walking sandals, which were Keen 'Naples' and much less attractive than the 'Kaylas.'

Lisa p -- It's the most perfect day here. We come here mostly for the plays but this afternoon I walked downtown and dropped in at all the little clothing shops on Ontario st. We've been coming to Stratford for the past 17 years and at this point wish we could move here.
JAileen, isn't Zappos wonderful. Really they have the most exceptional customer service -- your story is a great example. Hope your toe is getting better!

Enjoy the theatre! I love Stratford. We haven't been for a few years but it is a favourite destination for me and Mr. Suz and I agree absolutely on the need for walkable footwear while there!

Thanks Suz, it's certainly been a favorite destination for us. No matter what people are wearing at the theatre, the majority seem to be wearing footwear designed for a lot of walking. Lot's of cork footbed sandals.

By the way if you are looking for a slightly dressier Naot sandal, I have and really like these. They look dressier on the foot IMO, because you can barely see the cork. They are definitely on the narrow side, but surprisingly the front band does not bother my bunion unlike almost all other shoes of this style. (I think because it's angled slightly so it misses the bunion area entirely.) They're 8 hour + shoes for me.

I haven't looked at Naot for some time. I did have a pair of loafers that I wore to walk all over NYC about ten years ago. They were great. The brand fell off my radar some time ago. Thanks for the recommendation--I'm going to look for them.

Great choice, I had a pair of Naots a few years ago that I completely wore out! I can't find them online anymore but they were flat slides and had a sort of medallion detail on top.

That's such a gorgeous area - if you're looking to do any more travel in the region Niagara-on-the-Lake is also beautiful!

JuniperGreen -- We love Niagara-on-the-Lake. We've gone there for the Shaw Festival and a wedding. Somewhere nearby there's a wonderful botanical garden and butterfly conservatory. Unfortunately we have to return to Albany on Saturday.
This pair of Naot slides has a medallion detail but they're probably not the ones you had.

I also have this sandal. Got them last year after seeing them on JAileen. I also find them to run on the narrower side. They have so many color choices too. The finds are the black color I got. I originally ordered the last royal blue in my size, but there was something wrong with one of them and I had to switch colors. And yes, I ordered up in size too. Glad they are working so well for you.

Can't fault you for loving Stratford! DH and I were regulars when we were investigating places we might like to settle after retirement. Niagara on the Lake was another. Hasn't the weather been amazing!

JuniperGreen -- I really like those--the color is perfect. I like the subtle button medallions too.
Delurked -- I think the fact that they are a bit narrow makes my feet look better! It doesn't seem to make a difference in terms of comfort.
Runcarla -- Yes, we have also talked about that if my husband ever stops working. Bye the way, one of my favorite things about Stratford is the running route I take around the lake every morning. Very scenic--fun with all of the ducks and swans. The weather (with the exception of today couldn't have been better!
