Nail polish colors

I'm needing a "pick-me-up" - SYCing and all. So, decided I'd try a new nail polish (that doesn't count against SYC, does it?) Anyone have any good suggestions? I like edgy colors that would also be considered somewhat neutral. Thanks for your help!

I love navy polishes. Also Essie came out with a khaki nail polish that was very similar to the Chanel one.

When I need something colorful, cheap, and fun, I go for Sinful Colors. They have great shades of all types at a low price.

Marley, how about picking up a polish in one of the Pantone spring colors that speaks to you? Maybe a mustard/gold, green/teal, or deep purple/plum/fuchsia? I'll also second Anna's recommendation of navy, it's a great dark polish.

I like the spring Pantone color idea - the light shades will keep them neutral enough.

Plus I remember some advice about dark polish not being kind/flattering to over-40 hands. (A gross generalization I know, but it got me thinking and keeping my own polishes lighter. . . and I think more flattering. . .!)

I only do my toenails, and they are not smooth so I like a matte color. I love the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure. I still use a base and top coat, but it really does last. My current faves are Bocha Mocha, Plum's the Word, and Pat on the Black,

Yay nail polish! Chewy, do you mean you have ridges on your toenails? I have since I was a little girl, and now recently they have moved to my fingernails. I find that they interfere with a good polish job, so I buff first, which also helps the polish adhere (I skip the ultra-fine grit shining step when I buff before polishing). Probably a lot of work though, but I have been told I have an unnatural ability to contort myself.

Elly- yes. I use an Avon basecoat that helps to even them out, but I still prefer not to have too much shine.

Sally Hanson's cafe au lait has been my go to color for a while

It doesn't scream exciting but it is a very clean, natural and sophisticated look.
Plus it's not so obvious when it chips.

My nails right now are a mint sorbet color (which my bf insists is more of a 'statue of liberty' color). I love that its light and springy and still neutral because its fairly matte. Makes me smile whenever I see my nails..
