Nail art

Hi dolls! Considering that I'm new at this forum, I'll start with one of my favorite topics - nail art. Do you go to the nail salon or rather you're doing it at home? And if you do it at home - whether you use a professional tool for this, or you.. improvise? When it comes to improvisation, I use toothpicks, old pens, hair clips .. It's all on you! And what is your favorite brand of nail polish?

Just noticed your post now, and while I don't really wear nail polish (except on my toes in the summer) I wanted to say "welcome" just the same

For toes, I do go to the salon, because I'm just not very good at doing my own pedicures. In terms of fingernails - I keep it pretty simple - just buff my nails, apply some almond oil where needed and that's pretty much all. While I am not good at nail polish, I do like to try a fun colour on my toenails in the summer.

You should ask Nailpolishman! This is probably right up his alley.

You'd die if you saw my nails. I never do them. I couldn't care less about my own nails, and of course they are ragged and somewhat unattractive. Once in a blue moon I'll paint them navy blue or black, but I never remember to take it off until it's all chipped into little tiny islands in the middle of each finger. I painted them black one time last year, and one of my thumbs developed a replica of Australia, complete with an island for New Zealand on the correct side! (Only one island, not two, but still. It was pretty funny).

Once upon a time I had a standing nail appointment--Tuesdays at 11 in fact. But I used to be a bartender and felt like my hands were on display.

Now, I'm learning to play guitar so my nails are super short and totally plain.Nail polish would get destroyed.

I am amazed by people that can actually do their own nail art. I could barely get a presentable coat of plain polish on.

I do it like a special ocation only, when im pampering my self "a lazy friday" and get from round edge, ombre, half moon, basic etc. i use a manicure kit the basic one ...I always wanted to use the caviar trend but ...i think is been going a bit long plus don't want to eat the beads!!! stickers...there a good ones out there...and also stick on nails like impress for a quick to go nails ...i used to paint my nails different color everday! but not anymore...i believe now im into make up

I have to admit that I am not the hugest fan of nail art, however I do love the look of a nice manicure and plain' ol nail polish. At one stage I had a regular appointment at the salon for gel overlays with a french manicure. It got a bit expensive though and I decided the money could be better used elsewhere.

I battle to wear nail polish on my hands - it barely lasts a day before it's chipped and ugly so I rarely bother unless it is a special occasion. My toes however are always painted.

I find the concept kind of entertaining but I always manage to destroy my manicures within a few hours, so I don't bother with anything I can't do myself. It can be a bit juvenile, but since I work at home I can paint my nails with silly colors if I want and nobody will look at me funny.

During the Olympics I noticed that quite a few of the UK women had fancy red, white, and blue manicures in various styles (on very short nails, of course!) and I thought it was a cute touch.
