ETA truer color pix of pink suit My ways-to-wear it challenge for June.

Inspired by Sal’s challenge to herself to wear 10 items 3 different ways, I’ve pulled out the 3 strange and wonderful sets in these not-very flat lays. 3- piece linen suit from Talbots, 2-piece cotton dress from REI, 2-piece mini dress from Saks off Fifth. Finding even one way to wear all the pieces would be good, but I’m hoping for multiple ways to wear each. 3 skirts, 3 tops, 1 jacket—7 items altogether.

8. I tried this cardi once before, in the outfit I envisioned when I ordered it, couldn’t stand the look, and didn’t touch it again til an outfit I posted a couple weeks ago. I have a hunch that it might turn out to be a versatile workhorse, especially if the weather holds—mid 70s feels warm in the sun, but a breeze & a cloud suddenly make exactly this kind of light layer be just what’s needed.

9. Recent color talk about faded black led me to pull out this silk shirt that had been demoted to pool cover-up to see what I can do with it.

10. I had fun with these red pants the other day, but want to try pairing them with different things so they don’t get stuck in a rut.

Try the faded black top with the red patterned pants, and with black or white Summer shoes to match. Nice with your red back pack, maybe?

Maybe try remixing the solids in #1 with the pattern in #2? It can work if you pull the look together with bags and shoes.

I look forward to seeing what you can create. The tie dye cardigan would be perfect over jeans and a tee, or some of your shorts I think! I love those red pants as you know.

I do think that the challenge will make your realise if those older pieces are worth persevering with or not. I see possibilities with the red with white tees and sandals...

Ooh I like the versatility of a 3 piece suit - could wear it all together or separated as parts of other outfits. I could already see the red topper being worn with all of #2 & #3, the red tank worn with the bottoms of #2 & #3 (plus under the tie dye cardi - maybe with the matching skirt as a column of colour?), & the red skirt worn with the V neck floral buttondown tank or with the black shirt.

If you're ok with some pattern mixing, I think the V neck floral tank could even work with the red trousers, but with some white support acts thrown in to help 'ground' it (like white shoes/ bag/ light coloured topper).

Angie, thanks for the ideas! I had them right in front of me & didn’t think to try the pants with the black top. I think it’ll be fun to try to mix the pink with the blue & white pattern—theoretically, if it works, then all combos should work, but in reality, I bet some combos will be better than others.

Sal, yes—this is the pink suit I was talking about breaking up. I love the way the fabric feels when I wear it! But idk why there’s a dry-cleaners tag in the jacket; I don’t remember ever wearing it, even once. I think the skirt might be hardest to find partners for. Thanks for starting your challenge, which is giving me the nudge to finally do this.

Zaoebi, if the suit was red, it might be easier, but it is very, very pink. I should find a spot in the daylight where I can photograph the whole thing, but here is a swatch, the neck of the tank—no, nevermind—the color on the phone looks really different than the thing I just photographed. I'm glad you are joining the challenge. In relation to the pink items, I find denim and white items are always good with pink especially in summer.

I’ve attached new photos of the suit here and in the OP. It is a very strong pink, but definitely not red irl. That said, it is also a very cool kind of pink, which is probably what attracted me to it to beging with. It is a very moody color that photographs differently in different lighting. I’ll have to pay attention to whether it does that for the naked eye as well. To get direct sunlight, not filtered through the trees, this morning, I had to crouch way down—these pix do NOT show the fit accurately.

You have chosen some fun interesting pieces. I'm interested to see how you style the suit parts separately. You have been given some great suggestions already. As others have already suggested, the fun colours and patterns will mix well with basics and neutrals like denim.

Ooh my bad, I can definitely see the pink now! Well, I have a hunch it could still work with my suggestions of the blue, green & black pieces, but you'd have to try them on to be sure.

Sorry, I don't really wear pink (other than one hot pink scarf I use as loungewear) so I'm not too savvy on pink pairings

I saw this pic of Jill Biden today and thought of you. I wonder if the pink jacket would work over that very light blue printed dress you were considering for graduation.

Zaeobi, it’s a cool pink so I bet you’re right about blues (the the almost-grad dress) & greens with it.
