My Wardrobe Inventory with Pics

I wanted to do my year end closet post for my LookFab blog.
I have finally completed my annual cull and wardrobe inventory. Following the No(repeat)vember Challenge, I culled over twenty items including tops, bottoms, shoes, handbags, and accessories. I now have 2 suits, 8 skirts, 9 dresses, 6 pairs of jeans, 7 pairs of trousers, 18 blouses/tops, 18 tees/tanks, 12 sweaters, 13 toppers, 26 pairs of shoes, 11 belts, 18 scarves, and 12 handbags.

I will continue my wardrobe refinement in 2014. Past experience has taught me to be cautious of purging items out of season, so I have another cull planned for six months from now.

Pic 1 shows my side of our walk-in closet. I’ve tried other methods, but grouping my clothes by color (not by item) makes me happiest for some reason. I added a second scarf organizer this year, so I could sort them by season (spring/summer & fall/winter). The rest of my handbags are on one of those over-the-door organizers (not pictured).

Pic 2 shows the contents of the left and right sides of my armoire. It used to be a his & hers armoire, but I convinced DH to move all his items to the dresser so I could make it a hers & hers armoire. The front side is a full length mirror.

Pic 3 is an inside shot of the armoire.

I have to say a tidy closet makes getting dressed much easier and a lot more fun. My closet space is definitely a happier place now. So, how did the year end closet cull and/or clean-up go for you?

ETA: Pic 4 of the jewelry organizer I'm awaiting from my online order. I down-sized from the Little Black Dress organizer to the Little Black Tee for my earrings and such.

That looks very manageable - I can see how it would make getting dresses easier. I still have a few months of hot weather ahead of me, so I will defer the closet clean out until the temperatures start to cool.

Wow, so organized and serene! Great job!
I have decided to do a purge too--I may send some clothes to "purge-a-tory" and see if I really miss them or not.

What a beautifully organized space, and how smart to keep your jewellery in the armoire that way! (Not to mention how clever to convince Mr. J. to move out of that armoire!)

It sounds as if you are feeling a lot clearer following this purge. It's so helpful to tidy things up and see what we actually have.

Your closet looks lovely. I didn't purge but I did an inventory and plan to purge things that don't earn their keep in 2014.

Natalie, I have a few more things tucked away in the hidden holding zone (aka purge-a-tory) as well.

Suz, convincing Mr. J to vacate his side of the armoire was well worth it. I think the pegs were originally intended for neck ties, but he isn't much of a neck tie guy, so they proved perfect for my necklaces.

LBD, The scarf organizer is this one from Bed, Bath, & Beyond. I've added a better picture below.

Beautiful! I plan on doing a warm season purge as well for the same reasons. This year I switched to color as opposed to item categorization. That alone has made a huge difference in my limited ability to pull together an outfit. I wish I had done it years ago.
