Sveta, this is my version, since you asked the question on the blog this morning. Light colours, 90% woven fabrics, more structure, and cleaner lines. Perhaps you remember this birthday outfit from a few years ago.

Fantastic! And spotless. I love the balance between structure and drape here. The trick seems to be getting a top that is drapey at the bottom, but cut slim enough for you to be able to wear a fitted jacket without the top bunching at the side.

Oh my, that jacket with flared sleeves, it's one of my favourite item in your wardrobe.

I'd never have made the link between today's post and this outfit.
I guess when I think "drape" I see folds of clothes, a kind of Grecian mess you know and I think of your sweater as "fluid".

I love this outfit and I love seeing all the neutral pallette outfits. Seeing them is a great reminder to me that they are NOT boring. The little voice in the back of my head whispers "boring..." each time I wear something like this. Then I see a picture and think, "No! Smart. Crisp. Simple. Still interesting."

Angie and Sveta: I wore a similar monochromatic look today -- all in navy, and I used the Gap navy moto we both have! I paired the moto with a Caslon knit tunic that matches it almost exactly. I wore it over dark blue skinnies, and with black booties and a scarf of of a navy and black skies with ivory stars. The scarf also has a YLF connection, as it came for NZ Lynn!

Here's a old (not very flattering) pic of the outfit. The tunic is longer in the back, and it moves (drapes) more than the photo indicates. I wore booties today. It's not as dramatic and elegant as your white out version, Angie, but I like to wear it when I want to seem "pulled together" without looking too dressed up.

Just as lovely now as it was then! Hello again cutie hair spike ^^ I love this type of drapey knitwear, but I've found it very challenging to fit without looking overly oversized. Still looking for something streamlined, and have been for two years now >< My version of your ensemble would be similar in terms of how "drapey" is incorporated (shocking, I'm sure) and incidentally I totally wore it earlier this week!

Lisa, the pullover is from Club Monaco - a few years ago. CM and I get on very well! But I have to be in the mood for neutrals because they hardly every do colour. But they don't do a sea of black and grey either, so I always have a look.

I do love the low contrast version Angie! More so than higher contrast, I think. Once I get white jeans that fit again I will tooootally go all light with this ^^

Although you had it in bold print, the penny just dropped that this is done mostly with wovens, NOT KNITS! Now I love it even more as I am trying to avoid knits. They disappoint quickly. Back to the closet...

Ok, I'm obviously behind on my forum reading. I never have time over the weekend and then last weekend we went out of town to visit my new baby niece (so, so cute).

I love this outfit! I can't seem to do columns of light neutrals - I get obsessed with the fact that the colors don't match exactly. I love the look on others though. For some reason the slightly unmatched colors look fine on others, I just can't deal with them on me.
