In the comment to the blog post about upscale backpacks I wrote:
"LOL, I have unknowingly embraced this trend because – once again – I was aiming purely for practicality. Because I use bike to get around, my crossbody bags were either sliding in front of me or were tucked behind me in the basket, and neither was acceptable. I needed something that goes over two shoulders, stays at the back, but is not bulky (i.e. does not have that strong sporty vibe) and had to be pretty and sleek. Backpack, I wondered? Yes, backpack. So, I had it on my wish/need list for a while and have and managed to find a perfect one, sort of love at first sight. It served me well during the summer and it will probably do well in colder months too."
I wore my backpack more than any other bag this summer. Because it was right for my style (simple, sleek, no gimmicks), I worked in a number f situations. It really showcases how much dressing is about lifestyle - while it's perfect for me now (I get out and about on the bike in the car and have no issues with public transport safety), I could certainly not use it as much - and probably not even consider - if I depended on the public transport, as rute pointed out in the blog comment too.
The backpack is by the German brand Jobis, it is made of black leather and is of excellent quality. It does not hold much stuff (purse, keys, phone, small bottle of water and A4 notebook - btw, the second photo is from the internet, I rarely stuff mine this much ) but is the right size for what I need it for. The two straps that go over the shoulder can be zipped almost all the way down to make it into one strap.
Below are some of my outfits featuring the backpack, all shown on YLF before.
