My turn: hair appointment

Tomorrow. My hair is so me now that a friend recently told me she envied that I had found a style that suits me so well. And it's true - this cut is easy, edgy and works for all aspects of my life.

But dang, I am bored! I have been toying with going silver but that is a bit extreme and got a big no from both of my boys. Any other suggestions to change it up a little?

You will want to be able to wear it with hats and hoods for the next few months. Could you go with a chin length blunt bob that would be fairly easy to grow out? You want to show off your beautiful straight shiny hair.
What about a good trim but off taking off length so that it could get longer ?

Thanks, Joy! We actually have been doing just that. Then it gets to this midpoint where I can't stand to wait it out. And I always decide that on a freezing winter day like an idiot. I think I'm going to have to go with a color change-up... What do we think of a subtle blue?

Una - I wish that you had been able to see Cathy's (cciele) at Shoptoberfest! It was this super cool reddish-burgandy color that I thought would look so cool on you! Her hair color doesn't come through in her pics - but believe me, it is super edgy-fantastically cool!

Thanks Marley! I saw Cathy's fab hair and I have had my hair that color... Here I am stuffing my face in NOLA last year. My problem is that red is hard to maintain and can make me look jaundiced in winter. Maybe a dark cherry red?

Blue is even harder to maintain than red.

What about extensions if you just want a blue piece in your hair? They are easy to take off if you don't like them.

I second Anna. When my hair was blue (among other colors like green, purple, pink...), the color washed out very quickly. Like within a week. If your ok with the upkeep, then you would totally rock blue.

Those of you who had blue fade quickly, was that recently? Dd has bleached out sections of her hair that we put hot pink and blue dye on. The pink is mostly gone within a week, but the blue stays around for months. It's been about a month and the blue has hardly faded. We did this treatment last year and the blue faded through to all sorts of ocean and mermaid looking shades, but it was still identifiabley blue 6+ months later. Maybe the colors are better? We do two steps, bleach the crap out of her dark brown hair with a manic panic kit from Sally and then we apply a tube of acrylic paint textured goop. I can get the brand if anyone is interested. She tried blue at a salon and it was gone super quickly.

@Traci - My hair was bleached at a salon. I had it dyed green there and when the green faded (about 1 week later), I did the blue. I left it on a lot longer and it faded very quickly.

Ok, I am going to talk to my hairdresser about longevity. Maybe some silvery streaks instead? Or would that be too Bride of Frankenstein?

I'm another vote for blue. I also think a choppier, longer cut might be interesting, too.

OK, that link didn't post right but it's the pic labeled 'brown hair with silver blond highlights' which reads a bit bluish silver to me.
