My trendy(?)jeans - YouLookFab Forum

Hi all,at long last i ve carved out half an hour to try on a new jumper from Banana Republic and whilst I was doing this I thought that I'd post some of my jeans.They are not at all deeply trendy but comfortable and work for my lifestyle.
#1 are new,from Gap.Classic straight.Bought to replace my Boden skinnies which I find so uncomfortable as they cut across my stomach in the wrong place.These jeans have a higher rise and plenty of stretch so they are much more comfortable for me.Straight legs are a practical choice as I can tuck them into boots in the wet Welsh weather.
#3coated Boden jeans.Not as comfy but I love the rock chick vibe so I save these for going out.
#5 Boden corduroy bootcuts.Very comfy and surprisingly flatterng.corduroy is having a big fashion moment here in the UK this autumn so I have dragged these out from the back of the wardrobe.
#6wide legs with button fly made from softest cotton, very comfy and make me feel deeply trendy!weirdly I took a UK 16 in these ,I'm normally a 10!Maybe it's the cut. These are from selected femme at John Lewis.
Thanks for looking.l m off now to find a duster to clean my long mirror,all the photos look to be in soft focus there's so much dust on it !

Looks like a nice variety. I like your skinny coated ones and can see why you hang onto them in spite of not being the most comfortable. And I really like#6, the wide leg button-fly. Very trendy to my eye.

The John Lewis selected femme are gorgeous (but their sizing must be very awry) and the Boden ones are super and perfect for a night out. Nice dance as Angie says! X

These all look great! I especially like the last wide legs. The higher the waist the larger the size for me.

Love the button fly. And I applaud you for choosing whatever size fits. I have similar issues at H&M, sometimes need to go up like 5 sizes to find something that fits, which is just odd.

Nice variety! I wouldnt worry about the size, a good lesson from Angie is that the tag number doesnt dictate fit. Light bulb moment for me.

Thanks for those validating comments everyone.Yes sizing is definitely not consistent in retail these days.It doesn’t bother me as I don’t have an issue with my weight but I know from working in retail that a lot of women still worry about what the label says.Why?No one can see it and you can always cut it out if it troubles you .Fit is more important than label size.

It's because if you used to be slimmer it's like a reproach. My sizes have continued to creep up and it's a bit depressing if you used to be an 8/10 ( NZ and UK sizes, 4/6 in US sizes) and now you're a 14/16 NZ/UK. I have bought even bigger- once years ago I bought an NZ 18 which was crazy, but I did cut the tag out there, didn't want anyone seeing it! I agree fit is more important but it's all psychology/self-esteem related I think.
You look great in all these. Out of interest, do you have a long rise? Because these look like they are quite long in the rise and yet they don't reach your tummy-button?

You are rocking all of these styles, Cardiff Girl! They fit so well, and all look current. The button-fly cropped style in 6-7 are perhaps my favorites here. I really like your rock-chic coated jeans, too; it's nice to have a pair that feels super cool to go out in.

Yes Jenni I do have a very long rise,well spotted.It goes with my long torso,waists are always in a different place on me than most people hence my trouble fitting dresses I think.I can totally understand feeling bad about going up sizes if you struggle with your weight but sizing seems so arbitrary these days it doesn’t seem a good thing to hang one s self esteem on.
