I was suppose to be shopping my closet thru the end of October. However, today at lunch, I found myself wandering the aisles at our local thrift shop. I did not plan on buying anything, but I was drawn to the following items.

Pic #1 - Snake skin patterned pencil skirt, deep purple top, red belt. I thought this look would be fun for a date night with the hubby, or possible a smart casual Friday.

Pic #2 - Old Navy Boyfriend Cardigan in Black and Cream. I am not sure how to style this cardi, so I just threw it over a black sheath dress. Any suggestions on other ways.
to wear this?

Pic #3 - Jessica Howard Dress. This dress remind me of Jackie O - classic, elegant, kinda regal. And it is a deep purple which is favorite color of mine.

I spent only $13.00 on all the items. So ladies, was it worth breaking SYC. As always, thoughts, tips, suggestions are welcome. Please excuse the hair - this is my end of the work week bun.

I love 1 and 3. I'm not sure how to style 2 but maybe with denim?. don't return any of these!!!

I really like #3--it's very elegant. #1 is really cute for date night! #2 is a great classic basic, but to avoid a matronly feel, it needs higher contrast layers.

@Sona - I am going to try and create some looks with the cardi in #2 and my denim trousers and denim skirt. Thanks for the suggestion.

I live in a rural county where there haven't been good jobs for 20 years or more. Our thrift shops are not good for clothing. You are truly lucky to find such good clothing. As far as the sweater goes, I would say style it with a white button down and jeans. You could also pair it with a scoop neck (not crew neck) white tee. It would look cute with any shade of denim but red denim would rock!

Excellent finds - particularly the purple blouse and Jessica Howard dress! Love! The white and black cardigan is a nice neutral casual piece - will look awesome paired with skinnies too! Great bargain hunting, kimlee!

I really like the first outfit but think there is enough going on with the print skirt and purple top so would probably use a neutral belt. Great outfit.

I like the conservative sweater in #2. What can I say? I like neutrals that are simple.

The dress in #3 is great on you. It is very ladylike but not boring in the least.

That #3, especially, fits like it was made for you. If you have to, get rid of something else in your closet to "pay" for it.

First of all, you get the prize for the best thrifting of the week! (And there's been some fine thrifting happening on this site!)

#1 and #3 are brilliant just as you have styled them. Fantastic finds!

As for #2, I like it a lot! I like others' suggestions and think it could also work with khakis. Try different coloured tops underneath for their effect. You might be surprised what will work. Can you also belt it for a change?

When i'm on SYC i still go thrifting. I don't think it counts and helps take the edge off for such a little amount.

CocoLion - My hometown has a plethora of thrift stores, some of which have very little to offer in quality clothing. I am quite lucky that I found this shop and made friends with the owners. They call me when they get in items they think I would like.

Helen - Your suggestion of pairing the cardi with skinnies gives me an outfit idea. Look for it in a future post.

Dianthus - I like your suggestion of changing the belt in #1. I like simple neutrals as well.

Lyn - I like the idea of pairing the cardi with khakis and a white shirt. I think that look would be great for a smart casual look or as a MOTG look.

Kimlee, the snake skirt is a HUGE score (and big bonus...you look knockout in it!!!!). $13 for ALL THAT? Um, you can break SYC anytime.

Kim, can I come shopping with you? WOW. I absolutely adore the dress in #3. I really like all of the items you came away with regardless of the price, but $13 TOTAL for such a great collection is hard to beat.

If it were me I would pair the cardigan in #2 with something with a little more color and no pattern - just off the top of my head I'd try it with a black turtleneck and magenta pencil skirt, or a white tunic & skinny jeans.
