My SYC commitment

So, I'm going SYC as of this month until my birthday in April. I am still purging, so I'm going to allow myself to use money I get from consigning clothes to thrift, buy on consignment or buy something new if I get approval from here. I wanted to post so I could be held accountable! DH and I have set some financial goals, and I feel I can work with the wardrobe I have right now, until warmer weather comes and I deal with my summer clothes. I am hoping to lose a few pounds too. We'll see how it goes!

I think the hardest thing will be to not surf the net or look at posts here without COVETING! (That word always reminds me of Silence of the Lambs...).

I didn't last all that long when I tried SYC last year, I think I managed a month!!! I'm better off with a shopping diet where I just cut down x

Best of luck on your goal - I mostly use my selling fund to finance new purchases as well. It's one of my only good habits, lol. I hope it works out!

Well done, Una! There's lots of inspiration here for SYC-ing, and also challenges like 30 items for 30 days etc. Good idea to stop looking at retailers sites, and also to convert unused items to cash to useful items.....look forward to following your progress.

Good luck!! I did moderately well with attempting the recent SYC considering how new I was. I think just the conscious choice to reign things in makes you look at your habits in a new light. I am on a self imposed budget for this year, a shopping diet if you will, so I am following a similar path and hope it makes for a good year with a great, well thought out wardrobe

Like Lyn, I get grumpy when I try to restrict myself to my prior lousy choices. I just did a purge over the holidays, and my closet is still haunted by many ghosts of bad shopping habits past. I was able to bag up some items I haven't worn in the last year, though. I want to be willing to take it down to only things I love, love, love. We'll see how that goes.

Now, Clarice ... may I interest you in some fava beans and a nice Chianti?

I'm with you Una.
On boxing week I bought 2 items that were exactly what I was looking for, for some time now, and buying what I really wished instead of a lot of things that were not a 10 felt so good.
Until April I can certainly manage (and even after that, I suspect)

I'm in exactly the same boat, Una. It sounds like you have made a great start. Stay strong! Your birthday will be a great time to break your ban and have some fun with purchases you've had your mind on for a while.
