My suspender skirts

Hello everyone

I have two suspender skirts. One in wine red and one in dark green. Do you think they match this type of ruffled vintage blouses?

Or maybe some elegant pants would be better ?

I have the same red blouse. I'm just not sure if it will go with that red skirt. I'll try to send a photo later.

I think they are really super cool, and yes, I do think they work with the tops. I’m not a vintage style dresser myself though so others may be able to advise better.

I think it's a matter of your style preferences, L79. When I wear something very girly, I like to toughen it up with a graphic tee or something a bit less feminine. But that's me. I love the soft-all-over look on you!

I think they 'match' as in both items of clothing have a vintage, feminine feel to them. Is that your desired look?

If you want to incorporate the skirt & blouse into more modern/ trendy looks, maybe try April's idea (e.g. with some combat boots)?

Wow, I had a similar blouse in the 1970s!

In my humble opinion, the proportions get "wrong" when this blouse is worn worn with the mini skirts. The blouse would be great with elegant pants or a midi skirt.

Try your mini skirts with something more simple, like a T-shirt or a high-neck pullover. If you l like, you can add a long cardigan and leggings.

Sometimes I wear this blouse with black leather leggings or jeans. I bought these two skirts and now I am combining with different variants of tops. I'm wondering if that blouse and those skirts aren't "too much"? My husband says I look like a secretary from the 90s

It is a very defined look but you look lovely .l think elegant flowing wide leg trousers would definitely be worth a try with this blouse.

To my eye, the bow & ruffles overwhelm the skirt. I do think it “wants” something big, but more of an overall oversize than elements of the blouse that compete with it. “Oversize” is relative of course. I think easy does it with the skirt. Just enough that it isn’t the overall “shrunken” look you’d get with a fitted top.

My husband has already reconciled that I am a fan of frills and I have to dress elegantly because my work requires it. For the office, I usually combine this blouse with a black skirt below the knee and high heels. My husband has to deal with it

I would wear those skirts with a striped tee and converse, and accessorize with a large swirly lollipop!
