My style persona(it only took me 3 years to think about it)

Dear YLF,

I have been in and out mainly because life has been busy but also because January is usually a good month to re-evaluate goals( both life goals and style wise). Pinterest turned out to be an excellent tool for much of this.
Without more ado here are some words to describe what is my style persona goal:

Classical- yes, I know that this is not very groundbreaking but it is the base of everything else. I think of outfits in a very classic way from the number of items(as in I am happy with a 3 items outfit without much layering). Even though I understand the concept of basics I have great need that each item looks and feels good and has the proper fit. And I do like items to last more than one season because it feels good to have outfits to fall back to.

Sustainable - this is one of the big issues I want to focus in my life. I am not t all the green type but also don't want to leave an ecological print the size of Canada. As I am not a fan of second hand clothes unless they are hand me downs from people I know my only solution is to buy the best quality I can afford, no repeats and keep the size of my wardrobe in check).

Traveler- I love to travel and don't do it enough.And whenever I do travel I always cherish the feeling that with the amount of clothes I have in my bag I can attend different activities and always look appropriate. This means a wardrobe that translates well to most cultures. Don't get me wrong, I love my bf jeans , so I allow for a few items that are more trendy. Another characteristic of the traveler is that it cannot be precious or uncomfortable so the clothes have to be ready to go, nothing that is too stif or too impractical to wear( none of this means I tend to casual)

Vibrant- this one is a revelation to myself, I always thought I wanted to be the serene kind but the truth is that I am a vibrant(although introvert ) person. I like colors that look good on me, no matter the trend, cuts and fabrics that make me look happy with myself.

So I guess this makes me the Vibrant classical sustainable traveler

What an inspiring post! It seems that you know yourself very well. The sustainable part is very commendable.
I have been on YLF for 5 years ( on and off, but always at least reading), and still have no clue what my style persona might be

This is great, Celia! And it sounds accurate to me, as well. I remember the travel photos you posted last summer from Quebec -- I got a real sense of how important this aspect of your life is to you and how wonderful you looked the entire time -- no easy task, especially with a small child in tow. I agree also with the vibrant descriptor. You look wonderful in rich colour.

Caro- yes I do, actually is because I have some that I realized that I appreciate the fact immensely. But it is a work in progress.

Celia, I am inspired, too. I too know that I have a classic base, but am having trouble articulating what distinguishes my style from the next classic person's! This is great that you are discovering your style persona!

I'm also inspired by your post. I'm certainly classical but struggle to identify much else. Although since being on YLF I am also aiming for comfortably dressy but still casual (if that's not an oxymoron). I also love the idea of sustainable but again like you am not into used clothes. I certainly am a traveler, that has an influence on my choices. Also I love wearing vibrant colour, besides black. Hmmm maybe I should just copy your whole style persona. Will be watching you wiws with great interest.

This is wonderful Celia! Just having your descriptor will be such a help when you are shopping (I know mine has been). You can ask yourself, "Would a Vibrant Classical Sustainable Traveler buy and wear this?"

I'm starting to think about sustainability more too after reading the book Fashion Victim. While there are no easy answers, I think you've made an excellent decision to buy the best quality you can afford. I agree that clothes must not be so precious(meaning expensive for me) that we're afraid to wear them. Finding a balance between these two is my dilemma.

On a happier note, you have a great start with the clothes you already have. I appreciate your vibrancy, so show your gorgeous color even if you feel shy.
