Una - You should have seen my closet before I applied a color palette! I've known I was an autumn for 8 years now, but I didn't get serious about purging non-autumn colors till 2 or 3 years ago. Learning about hemlines & proper fit did a lot to update my style from frumpy to elegant feminine, as did adding accessories like hairdos/belts.
Actually, why don't I add some pics so you can see where I started. They're pretty bad. Taken Jan-May 2011.
#1 My ultra-frumpy/don't care combo
#2 Bad color top; 1st time I wore something fitted (I liked it)
#3 Low contrast (I prefer high), bad color, hemline way too long
#4 Top too short for pants, top untailored
#5 Top untailored, hemline too long; 1st attempt at an autumn combo (became a favorite)
I'm just tweaking since I don't see any major style shifts on the horizon - rather, I'm completing the huge overhaul I started a few years ago. Some wardrobe holes remain, as well as cherished wishlist items, but overall I'm happy with my work in progress.
Amy - this is the result of multiple years of doing & redoing Angie's style exercises, PPP buying, mapping where I want my wardrobe to go, and practicing hairstyles. Thinking about style is definitely a hobby for me. Yes, I consider my hair to be my most important accessory.
Shemarie - I'm new to membership, not to YLF; I consider my journey to have started several years ago. I just audited the course without signing up for a grade. Take a look at my real newbie pictures!
