So while I was visiting my lovely uncle and aunt in Austin I had a style epiphany.
The first few days I was there it was cold, colder than Seattle cold. I only had my Gap boyfriend jeans. So I wore them with my LD Tuttle flat sandals (a slide of black leather covers most of the foot with a elastic heel strap), a t-shirt and a Lululemon knit moto jacket. I was fine. I did not have a sartorial crisis. For the jazz concert I wore this http://noscrubs.lookfab.com/po.....ti-western. I was also totally fine for that evening and the venue.
When it warmed up I was wearing denim shorts, t-shirt and either my LD Tuttle black sandals or my Acne nude tasseled sandals. For the meet-up I wore

I realize if I have basic clothes and interesting shoes, then I'm happy. Although my basic clothes included harem shorts and and jeans. In Seattle I really need a topper most of the year. So add an interesting jacket to the mix, and this definitely fits the bill http://www.saksfifthavenue.com.....R=88583420

So as long as my topper and footwear are interesting then I'm good to go. I predict my Brooks Brothers no-iron shirts, Acne oversize blouses and Equipment shirts will become real workhorses. I'll be fine with repeating the basics.
My future fashion dollars will be focused on footwear and to a lesser extent toppers.
The footwear will mostly be in smart casual to trendy casual areas. I have dressy opera shoes and don't really need to expand that. I'm trying to heed Angie's advice and limit sandals given my climate.
