I'm still rather new here and I feel like the photos I have posted so far aren't very representative of how I actually dress. This post aims to change that.

Photo #1 shows a selection of outfits, typical of what I wear to work (although do see disclaimer below)
Photo #2 shows a casual outfit I like.
Photo#3 shows a casual outfit I don't really enjoy wearing. (Note: this photo was taken BEFORE I read Angie's post about cuffing lengths so I realize now these should be cuffed a bit higher)

I wear pants to work very infrequently. I am more likely
to wear pants in a casual outfit but the truth is I don't have any pants I like very much at the moment. Thank goodness I love dresses and skirts!

Disclaimer: I've been trying to take outfit photos every day, but the recent ones simply are too dark. I need to figure out a better method for taking more photos. The photos I am posting were all taken on the same day when I managed to get good light. I didn't accessorize as much as normal, or switch my tights very much. And I'm only wearing a scarf in two photos when in reality, I wear a lot of scarves in winter. But beyond that, these photos are a pretty good representation of how I dress on a normal day.

I'm open to any thoughts/comments/etc.

You do seem to have a consistent colour palette.And I am wondering why don't you like pants because the ones you show in the last picture fits you beautifully(cuff non withstanding).
How would you like your style to evolve? Do you have a certain look you want to try?

I think Celia's questions are really good ones: do you want to evolve your style? I love your color palette. My favorite outfits are 2 and 3 (love the waist definition) and 4 -- something about that little gray jacket and the infinity scarf works really well, to me. There is something vintage and feminine about your look that I like (maybe that's a key to why you are not a huge fan of pants?).

My style has evolved slowly and subtly since joining YLF (and continues to!) and not always in ways that I understand until it's happened, which may sound strange.

BTW, are you wearing Frye Carson oxfords in these pics? I have the exact same ones and am wearing them today -- such a relief not to put on snowboots. I LOVE these shoes!!

I've been doing Project 333 for over a year now, and I would agree one of the things I've been successful with is having a consistent color palette.

Re: pants: It isn't that I don't like pants in general, but I don't like the ones I have right now. I never feel great in the pants pictured. I'm not sure why. I've been wearing that outfit since early last winter, and maybe my eye still hasn't adjusted to the look or the fact that it doesn't follow more traditional figure flattery guidelines?

My immediate style goals are to switch out my clothes for spring (and that will mean filling some holes) and to find more casual outfits I feel great in. I don't have trouble getting dressed for work but I am really struggling with getting dressed for fun.

In terms of how I would like my style to evolve: here's a pinterest board that encapsalates looks I love. Some of them I think I do fairly well already but others are more aspirational. In particular, I have not yet figured out how to wear a long drapey sweater over tight pants and tall boots.

viva, we posted at the same time. Yes, I love my Frye Carson Oxfords. I've been trying really hard to build outfits around them because they haven't been getting a lot of wear.

Your Pinterest board was really helpful. (Maybe I need to start using Pinterest!)
I guess I was right on the vintage! But you also have a lot of modern elements mixed in, which I think would raise your style a notch. I bet if you picked up a really modern cut jacket in a print (like the stripe or dotted from your board) it would help give you options for spring and mix things up a bit. (Would be so cute with the kinds of skirts you favor.)
Also, you might need an even longer drapey sweater than the one you have in your pants picture to pull off the drapey-over-skinny.
Have you figured out your body type? Angie recently posted in the blog on dressing by each body type. If you search in the blog you will find those posts, with descriptions of each body type. That will help too.

Re: drapey over skinny look-- earlier this year I ordered the Everlane cashmere boyfriend cardigan which I hoped to use for that look. But as a pear, I didn't find it to be that flattering-- I think it may have been the way the bottom band hugged my thigh instead of draping. I'm thinking that I need a longer sweater without a band at the bottom. Does this sound like a logical conclusion?

I am not a pear but my guess is you are exactly right about that sweater. I think you want one that has the potential to swing away from the body. So maybe one with a waterfall effect? Or, at the least, a more fluid edge.

I am with you on your #2. Total fun. Love the purple anorak and polka dot stockings.

I did think accessories seemed a little spare in #1, but then I saw the disclaimer. One other thought occurred to me looking at your Pinterest link... you like a feminine look and your pins are of slightly more grown-up feminine looks than in #1.

I like your color scheme. Your style seems to be feminine with some arty eclectic. But when you join YLF, you never know what new style concepts will sing to you and thus shift your style a bit.

As for trying the skinny pants + tall boots look, here are a few of my suggestions (and I am a pear).
- Keep the color scheme low contrast at first while you experiment with this look. Even all one color. That will mitigate the horizontal lines happening with this look (boots, tunic both slicing you).
- It is crucial that the tunic ends below the widest part of your thighs. It can be banded or loose. I actually like a hemline that is in between the two.
- For the topper (tunic, cardigan or jacket), a v-neckline is my favorite as it creates a vertical line, once again mitigating the horizontal action.

I love the colors and shapes here. I'm especially fond of the pants and scarf together - so vibrant - although I know you don't love this one! The only thing I can think is that either a shorter or longer top might work better.

You have some great outfits there Jenny. I love the colours and playful touches. Re pictures being dark... when you upload onto your computer does your photo storing app allow for changes? On mine I can change brightness, tint, saturation, temperature etc. I was able to lighten pictures that came out too dark for my wiw 2 days ago and tweak the colour as it didn't echo the colour IRL. I also think some ladies on here use something called Pic Monkey, though I'm not sure what you can do on it.
