I live in a mild climate, but there are some times when, especially at night in winter, that I freeze in sandals or even bare heels or toes. Also we have a little rain in winter, and I go to snow, and colder places a few times a year. I have worked out a system with some advice and help, that works for me. Just passing this on in case anyone finds any of this useful.

1. some sneakers, especially Sketchers, feel so nice inside that go nicely with bare feet. Others, both fashion and athletic, seem to need some foot coverage. With these I wear those little no show socks. Best are the sports kind.

2. With sneakers sometimes I wear socks that come up to ankle bone. I do this with white ones on white shoes, black with black sneakers, and with my grey and blue sneakers blue ones that shoe a little blue line at the top to match the blue lines on the shoes. This may not be as fashionable as no show, but works for sports activities, and long hours of wearing them.

3. With lower ankle booties either no show or bare, depending on how the inside of the booties feel. Higher shaft booties get socks that are same color as the bootie and if they are taller than tops of booties it depends on the pants or jeans length.

4. Sheer nude stockings for daytime dresses, sheer black or darker grey or opaque depending on the level of dressiness.

5. Heavy, colored, or wool, or whatever for hiking, snow boots, or colder weather outdoor activities.
