I was so smitten with this beautiful outfit of Angie that I could not stop thinking about this Zara jacket. After a whole week of agony I decided that I have nothing to lose but I have to try it - so I ordered it. it is not so often that Angie's picks are in my reach - price wise, size wise and available in Canada, how could I miss that!
Well, let me tell you - this jacket is a beauty! The color is a beautiful cream (but less 'creamy" than BR skinnies), the texture is fun, the cut is cool and gold zippers are a cherry on the top...but as I expected it is too short for me!
The sleeves are short too but I could live with this as I scrunch them anyway - and the front looks fine but the back, the back!
I have ordered 2 sizes - L and XL and this is XL. L was fine everywhere except that sleeves were a bit tights - and of course it was even shorter!
So here goes my white and golden dream of this summer: once more my body reminds me that I am that special!
I hoped to replace my 3rd season white cotton blazer with this one which is looking tired now but apparently it was not meant to be!
It looks better with the skirt but I would like a jacket I can war with pants too...
What do you think? Ridiculously short? Looks like I grew out of it?

The jacket fits you the same way it fits the model. I think if you wore a trouser that fits you in a similar style as the model's fit, you'd have a really cute outfit. Since the jacket is draped open, you might want to try a more fitted pant or a slimmer skirt. Why don't you try a pair of black pants or capris and see how it looks or try it with jeans. Experiment and have fun with it.
I think the jacket is cute and you'll get a lot of use from it.

I don't think it looks too short. I think it is supposed to fit cropped like that. Certainly the sleeves are short on the model too. It looks the same on the model. It looks lovely on you. How tall are you? It says the model is 178cm which is almost 5' 11".

Ceit, I am also 178cm tall but I think my torso is longer than the model's so it looks shorter on me. If I wear a belt on my waist the bottom of the jacket just covers the bottom of the belt...
I did not style it in these shots, just tried on with the trousers I had on today.
I tried a smaller size again and it does fit more like on the model but the length is shorter for sure!
Maybe I need to have a photo session with my closet with this jacket and see what works? Definitely skirts and dresses work with it well, it is jeans and pants I am not sure about...
I feel this saga may be continued!

I say sit on it and do a proper trial with pants etc. when you have a chance.

I don't think it is too short, isn't that a bracelet sleeve and a cropped back? I do think this jacket has a specific structure to it and I like it. It's not a blazer or moto and it's not going to fit like one. It has a very minimal with sharp lines vibe to it.

The back of the jacket is what kept me from ordering this jacket, Sveta. I love the white with gold hardware and wish the whole jacket was longer.

You know it looks gorgeous with the skirt and will look good with dresses too. I am not convinced about the pant look though You probably should play around more like others suggested and see how it works. Its a beautiful jacket on you!

I think you can wear this jacket with the right pieces. It is boxy and architectural and not a go- with- everything jacket-/ so, maybe not as versatile as some others, but maybe makes more wow with what works.
I think it fits you about how it's supposed to, but you may be a little more long- waisted. So then the proportions of the top and bottom are a little trickier.

Sveta, this you must sleep on and play with. The first rule of K/R is style the item as you might wear it. Sure, it's fine to just throw on jeans or a simple top with whatever you happen to be wearing and look at the fit. But if an item has a new silhouette, it's crucial to play in the closet and see it different ways. Tomorrow you must show us. I have great hopes of this piece.

I'm sorry, I will be the no fun one. I think it looks too short. It just looks out of proportion. But maybe I don't like it on the model either. Plus others who know much more than I do have been in favor so you might want to toss out my opinion! It's just that I have seen you in things that look much better on you. I'm so sorry!

I'm not good at proportions but feel that you should take the advice of Suz and others and try the jacket with your things. I love the fluid structure!

It looks like it is hitting you pretty much in the same place on the back as on Angie (as far as I can tell from pics). It looks like it is supposed to be a cropped jacket which may not be as versatile in your wardrobe as a longer jacket. It certainly is gorgeous and a great wardrobe update. It may leave you still craving a longer white jacket in addition to this one.

It is not too short. I think it looks good with pants & the skirt. The sleeves are bracelet length. I have jackets with bracelet sleeves & I worry that others wont realize they are supposed to be that length so I scrunch them.

I think the jacket fits you as it is intended to fit. If you think that is too short for your taste, however, that's an entirely different story. It looks superb, me thinks.

I think it fits well, but may not be to your taste, as Bella points out. I don't think you will like it with cropped pants - then it will seem like you grew out of your clothes all of a sudden :-). But with long trousers, or jeans, or skirts you may find the look quite appealing after all.

Sveta - Of course it's you call all the way, but I have to tell you I LOVE this one you. First to me, those are three quarter sleeves which are hard to find and fabulous on a spring, summer, fall jacket. Very elegant and perfect for a cuff. Second, I always thought this was a cropped jacket. This jacket fits you like my HL Gala Tux jacket fits me. Have you tried this over a fitted dress? It hits you at the sweet spot giving you beautiful waist definition. Also would you consider trying this with a true column of color (go dark just do you can see how the jacket almost alone interacts with your figure. I think this is stunning but I get the feeling what you pictured in your mind is not what you are seeing. Remember this may just be a readjustment in your thoughts. Of course, if that is not what you wanted them you will find a perfect item but for my end, I adore this on you. I see this swinging caual and dressy but stunning over a simple summer dress!!

I think it looks really good except for the sleeve length. Pretty sure the sleeves are supposed to be that length though; it's just that I personally don't like bracelet length sleeves.

I'm interested to see how this will unfold. As fellow tall gal I immediately noticed the sleeve length and it bothered me. You say you can live with that, so that's not an issue for you.

The jacket looks awesome on #5.

It looks great from the back. But I'm not sure about the side view, is there a difference in sizes in photos #3 and #4?

Weighing in on great jacket...I am tall, too, and find some of these jackets that are a tad shorter in the front than the back are actually supposed to be so...I think tall women, like us, get it in our head that some things are just too short for us...Maybe in some it is true...However, in this one, it fits you and looks great...Hope you find it in your heart to like how you look in this one too...

Ornella, this is the same jacket but it is open in 4 and zipped up in 3.
I am OK with the sleeve length as I tend to scrunch them anyway and I also can unzip the sleeve and turn up the cuff. It is the back length I am not sure about.
Mona, I have seen your post and I think your jacket fits differently than mine does. I wonder if my size L fits closer to yours...
Angie, thank you for chiming in. On you sleeves are not as short as on me or on the model I think they are at last an inch above my wrist bone. This is bigger size - XL. L fits the same in the shoulders but less boxy through the body. with XL sleeves are not tight; with L they are a bit tight from elbow down.
So you think it is not too short for me?
gryffin, it works well with skirts and dresses, both fitted and flared.
\now about a side view. I don't see it as much in the mirror but in the picture when it is open it kind of "sticks out" too much, no? It maybe because it is not steamed out and it did not "mold" yet. Also there was a bit of wind and i think it blew it a bit open in the pictures... does it feel like I am trying to convince myself that the fit is not too bad?
Suz, you are wise as always. I need to try and style it better before making a decision, right?
I think the whole length thing is a sensitive issue for me. As petite gals are afraid that a bit longer sleeves look like they borrowed the jacket from "mom's" closet, for a tall gal like me there is also that little voice in my head asking if I look it it like I outgrew it... that's why I ask for the wisdom of YLF and our fearless leader!
I will try to play dress up tomorrow and take more pictures . I will also take pictures of another size - just too see if this bigger size is too boxy on me.

Righto, you still have to like it. If this bit here and that bit there are kind of bothersome or make you fret, then say "next" and keep looking for your jacket.
I'm trying to learn that things can look "fine" but still not be quite right, and it's not just about settling, it's that each one of those kinda-sorta's interferes with nailing down the looks I want--takes up space and mental energy.
