My shoes set off the alarm
Anonymous
I'm at the airport, and am wearing the Dansko sandals shown below. They are extremely comfortable, but they set off the alarm at airport security. I was told to take them off so they could scan them.
I have the same problem with Munro shoes. I have a couple of pairs that are comfortable for air travel, but they set off the alarm. Often long airport walks challenge my feet. Still looking for the right travel shoes.
No. They weren't asking people to take their shoes off. I was the Chosen One. I'm going to wear these on the way back (see below) and hope they will be okay. They're Danskos but have a different type of sole.
I'm used to always taking off shoes and do it early so as not to hold up the line. Sandals are especially iffy if you end up with bare feet. You may want to wear or take some Peds to wear just in case.
I've been through the airport in Danskos before, with nary a problem. I can't tolerate lace-up shoes, as they make the tops of my feet hurt, so it's either boots or sandals.
Hmmm...miss I flew out if airports that didn't require shoes off, I had to pay the tsa $85 for that privilege.
But I believe even if you are pre check, if you have metal in your shoes, off them come.
On the way back, I just wore the shoes again and took them off before stepping through the scanner. The Dominican Republic airport expected everyone to do that anyway.
