My quest for a perfect leather moto jacket...help?

All these posts about leather jackets made me think about them again - even though I was resolved to be on SYC until the end of the year. But you know what: the perfect leather jacket is so hard to find that I can break my SYC if the right one comes along, what do you think?
One of the problems I have in my quest is to decide which color I need in a moto jacket. Can you help me - what do you think would be the most versatile color for me? Not brown as I already have a dark brown leather blazer. Black? Cognac? Burgundy? Cream? Any other?
These are the pictures of some colors I quite like (my emotional side speaking) - but maybe black is more versatile for me? Or maybe I should go with color like dark green, purple or teal because they are more fun?
So - black or another color? What do you think?

I like the color of the first one - dark red. There might be a few around this year with the trending of oxblood rec, but a dark red is always good looking. It should also be flattering on you.

I'm not so sure about black leather as I rarely wear my black moto. I think it's the combo of black leather with moto style that feels a bit costumey. If you look for black, maybe look for less extreme styles then?

You've been so thoughtful and wise about your closet, that I can't see you falling for a really trendy, or bright color unless somehow it's just as versatile with your outfits. . .

ETA: rereading your questions, I like the idea of a cream leather for you too.

Hmm, I'd go with your instincts. I really like all the jackets you've posted here. I think they'd be much more versatile than a black moto jacket for your style.

These are all lovely, Sveta. I am also considering #1 but they do not have it in the store. I like the idea of any of the colours you mentioned, for you. I am not so crazy about the idea of black, for all the reasons already mentioned.

OK, so for me my black leather moto is an essential, but I realize a lot of people (you included, Sveta) do not wear nearly as much black as me. For you, I like the burgundy or cognac, and they are both pretty neutral in my book. (I do have a cognac jacket too and it's very versatile).

I have a black moto jacket that is the most worn item ever. It was actually my first K/R post here:) I don't see a problem with black in your case, since your coloring is so high contrast. I happen to like #1 best. Is that dark thing - perhaps a collar adornment or hoodie of some sort- removable? I'm not sure if I like that.

I cannot see you in black Sveta. I think the red appealed mostly for the fit, the hint of sportiness in the collar, and the color. The others will work, but I feel that you have more color need than caramel need? Just a feeling from thinking over your outfits.

This is interesting, Sara, I have never thought that combination of moto style and black makes it more "edgy" but you have a point...

Suz, I have a very complex relationship with black. I did not wear it before at all as I thought it is not a good match for my coloring. Now when I accidentally got black hair I was amazed that it actually suited me better than medium brown. Does it mean that black is a good color for me or am I kidding myself?
Diana, black is your color and it suits you well. I am glad to hear that your cognac jacket is versatile for you.
Zap, I think you also wear a lot of black overall, right? With your naturally black hair it is a good color for you for sure. I am not considering to buy any of these jackets really, just posted them for color reference...

Sveta, I think you should try some black ones on and see how they feel. I agree with others that it makes for an edgier look and maybe tougher. It all depends on the style, but for a moto, for sure. Not that it wouldn't be possible to style in a different way, of course. But the associations are pretty strong.

I can see you in black with your new hair, but then there is the question of how it would play overall in the wardrobe. I think you do have enough bottoms with which it would or could work.

Yes, I wear lots of black. I'm in New York after all. Angie wears a lot of black too especially in the colder months, I think.

I tried your choice 2 -- it is cut very large in arms and shoulders, and is browner and not so cognacy in real life. It was a really nice coat but I would have had to size down to get shoulders to fit and then I think I would have had trouble doing it up.

Perhaps a black moto with burnished gold hardware Sveta.

I do love the last colours on your list, the forest green, teal, eggplant/ aubergine all sound wonderful and are perennial fall colours IMO.

With such a wide choice of colours which could work with your wardrobe it may be wise to think fit/ style first and colour second.

The dark red in #1 is my favorite, closely followed by the #2 pic. I really like the idea of a cream leather jacket but boy wouldn't it be hard to keep clean?

Suz, one of the reasons why is it hard for me to find a leather moto jacket becaus I need it in indoor weight and majority of what I have tried on so far was was made with thicker leather which would be too hot indoors (sorry I am back to that whole topic

Hi Sveta, I agree that cropped would be a good choice as the pic of yours I saw yesterday was a longer style and a browny shade?
I could see you wearing black (versatility), burgundy or teal.

Sveta, I love the first one for you! Is it a bit longer? That might be nice too. Black should be fine for you too because of your hair as long as it will play nicely with the rest of your things.

My theory on leather jackets is to spend as much as you can for the best quality and fit, and wear it forever. So I recommend against a trend color like teal and burgundy. I'd go with cognac, black or brown.

If you want a trendy jacket, get a pleather one. Does that thinking make sense?
