my own neutral shoe search

Just like Una, I'm also looking for a neutral shoe. Can you help me decide which one to get?!

#1 - Miz Mooz Expo pump. I love this shoe, but I'm worried that I won't get much use out of a pump this summer. In the summer, I mostly live in shorts and casual clothes. I don't have to teach, and I spend a lot of time sitting in my office at my computer working on research and talking to my uber-casual grad students. So maybe I should wait to get a lighter colored pump in the fall in a style I can wear when it's colder, and get a sandal for summer. Hence #2-3.

#2 - Miz Mooz Heather. I know a lot of you have this one. (Sammi was sporting it yesterday)

#3 - Indigo by Clarks Long Pond. I've also seen this one on YLFers.

Any opinions?

I would opt for the Heather. I have last year's version in the same color and I LOVE them. I wear clams and skirts all summer and they work fabulously. Mine are 8 hour plus shoes. I like the LP's too and I'm sure they would be all day shoes for me but I don't know that they would be all day, everyday (or every other) shoes. I'd opt for something flatter for every day. Just my 2 cents.

ETA: I love the Expo too but I prefer sandals for summer.

I'd buy all 3! Ok, seriously, that is a tough call. I personally want the Heather, but I'm getting it in whiskey (brown), so I am biased.
I think the Expo would be a great multi-season shoe.

@Kelly: did you have to size-up, size-down or same-size with that shoe? I'm not sure if I should order the 8 or 8.5 (I usually wear an 8) as I was told this shoe fits a bit smaller.
Sammi said she went up a half size, but not to go up if you are an even size.

I really like the idea of #3 for professor-with-an-edge in summer. #2 is cute but more staid. In the end I would try both and choose the one that looks best with your skin tone. The first one is cute, but sounds like you would get less wear out of it in the summer than the other two choices.

3 are fab, 2 are cute and I'm totally convinced after reading Kelly's post, 1 are cute but sounds like not fit for purpose you need them for as the other two.

I have #3 and they are my currently my wardrobe's MVP! I wear them with everything from clams to jeans to dresses. I have run through airports in them, they are seriously comfy! But I really like #2 also. I think you need both #2 and #3.

@ Rosee: I did size up a half in my MM sandals. I'm usually a 7 and went up to a 7.5. It gives me a bit more wiggle room especially when my feet have the summer bloat!

I love 1, but agree that this is more a fall shoe.

2 and 3 both look great.l....Is this a sandal in which you'll ride your bike to work, come home, and take off at the end of the day, most days? .

If so, I would pick the most practical in terms of all-day practicality. #2 looks like the Dansko Sissy that I own (mine is red) and it is definitely an all-day shoe. #3 MIGHT arch my foot too much. I'd order both, wear both around the house, pick the most comfy, and return the other.

Thanks for talking me out of #1, ladies, even though I adores those shoes - I'll wait until fall and find something with a closed heel. I think I'll get 2 and 3 and return the one that's not comfie. Isis - you are right, I'll be riding to work all summer long in these shoes, so they'd better be practical. And Kelly, thanks for the size tip. I wear a 7, so I'll size up (which I also had to do in the Expo, although not in my other MM shoes).

I would vote for #2 for you. They are very pretty shoes.

#1 would work very well in my climate, where sandals are *rarely* practical!

Oooh, this is helpful! I just ordered the Clark's Indigo Finch sandals, will let you know how those turn out. The MM Heathers are adorable, they remind me of the Dansko sandals (name is slipping my mind) but not quite as clunky.
