My order can't be filled.

It came. The dreaded email from Nordstrom, stating that my order could not be filled, due to the coat I wanted being out of stock at the time of my order.
Nordstrom offered me several other very nice sale options (including that gorgeous cinnamon colored coat), but my heart belongs to the lovely lapis.
I sent a reply back, requesting that they keep my order open and send me the Tahari Tessa, should one be returned in my size.
Nordstrom has received my request and will get back to me as soon as possible.
So I sit here with crossed fingers and a hopeful heart.

Fingers crossed for you! That is a gorgeous color and I don't blame you for not wanting to settle. I used to have a vibrant cobalt coat that was a similar shade, and I think I got more compliments on it than anything else I owned at the time.

It awfully early in the season to run out of something forever--keeping my fingers crossed that it pops back into stock soon.

Darn. Sorry this happened. I'm kinda fearing the same for my recent two orders. Both are still showing as not shipped yet - and it's been over a week now. Am I right now in thinking that their system isn't keeping up with inventory changes?

Keep stalking it online several times per day. At last year's NAS, I got at least three non-fulfillment emails for the black jacket below, but I persisted and was finally successful. I only received one email rejection of the Angie Pick below but supposedly it has shipped. I keep stuff on my Wish List so they are easier to track.

Oh, okay, I now see, I think. I wasn't familiar with the service you were describing. But now I've gotten the dreaded "We're working on your recent order" email--which sounds like a prelude to the one you received, saying they can't fulfill the order. The email I received says they've received "record numbers" of orders, etc., and it ends:
"If we are unable to fulfill any part of your order, we'll let you know and help you find a replacement." They're already trying to prepare me for the disappointment. And this email arrives the third day after I placed the order. Does NOT inspire confidence.

Mainelady - Ooh-((( I am soooo holding thumbs for you!! The same coat was in last year's NAS too, and I too fell in love with the gorgeous colour so I bought it. It's an amazing coat, and I wore it all Winter, so I am rooting extra for you and this coat!!

Thank you all for your positive thoughts and suggestions to keep stalking the coat. Nordstrom did reply and tell me that they have no system to hold orders open and fill them if returns show up. They also suggested that I check back frequently, which I will do.
Nordstrom did suggest a few coats for me. They were all lovely, but none of them spoke to me. I did search through all of the Nordstrom coats and found this Ellen Tracy, which has potential. It is not as polished looking as the Tahari, but it would work very well as a more causal option.
Susie and Firecracker, I hope the items you are hoping for turn up for you!

sorry. can i add another suggestion, the on line inventory generally assumes that onesie in store are not really there, so that if the store can not find them, the customer isn't dissapointed. do you have a local store that you can visit? the SA can then look at the on hands in stores and make some "low stock" phone calls to see if one can actually be located....no guarentee, but it worked for me on a pair of Frame Jeans.

Thank you for the suggestion kkards. The nearest Nordstrom is 6+ hours away. Online is my best option.

yes what KKards said - maybe you can actually call. I at the last minute decided to get the Tahari burgundy leather coat - I often do my ordering at the store. Well in the system it said their were only 3 left in stock in my size and it would not let the Sales Associate place the order. She had to call the stores - the first store could not find on the floor and the 2nd store did so the coat was then mine. I wonder if you could call your store and see if someone would help you on the phone.

You might also try doing a google search for that coat. Supposedly some of what is sold at nas is exclusive to Nordstrom but other stores (and probably Amazon) do carry the tahari brand and you might get lucky. Maybe later in the season.

Happy update!
I checked back and several more sizes of the Tessa were listed, includI got mine! I reordered and just received a confirmation that my coat will be delivered between 7/28-8/4!!
