Alas!

I waited too long to pull the trigger and missed out on the Only Mine zip back sweater.

So sad.

It resulted from my indecision about other things....

However, I did order a few items. A couple of handbags. The VC tube midi in two colours (oh, I hope it fits...) Two of the VC banded tops. And a scarf.

Wish me luck. None of these will "move me forward" exactly, but I hope they all will fill important wardrobe holes.

Onward - to building the core, and finding just the RIGHT extras!

Thank you all so much for you help yesterday and for tolerating my angst. I am feeling a little more hopeful. I honestly think, in my case, a personal shopper to help me find a few key essentials and one or two standout statement pieces would be money really well spent. From there I think I would have confidence to build forward.

I know I feel really anxious when I am spending money (especially on myself) - and perhaps that was what was contributing to your angst? So many choices, how to narrow it down - it can feel overwhelming. It's so important to just make a start somewhere - there is no right or wrong. Hugs to you!

Merwoman, you are exactly right. I get anxious when spending money on myself, and in particular when making an order from the US. My husband is going to be there next week so the pressure was on to order the "right" stuff so as to avoid paying duty and shipping on this. I know I can return if necessary. But I rarely order from the US for direct shipment to Canada because the costs just rise too high.

I ordered a plain black banded top, and the teal stripes. One is petite and one regular size. Best I could do.

I think a lot of my angst and anxiety would be reduced if only I had more shopping opportunities. Living in Kingston makes shopping stressful. Very little in the stores. When I do get to the city I feel rushed and pressured and often make poor choices. Online is fine...but only if I'm not paying extra shipping, duty, and returns.

I'm excited for you! I hope this is a good experience and that you can get some great things.

I heard about a service for Asian countries that allows clients to ship US items to their address, and then they take everything over in bulk so that their clients can get things that don't ship internationally. I wonder if there is a similar thing for Canadians?

Good luck, Suz! I understand the worry only too well. However what is greta woth nordstrom that you can really return anything any time. I have returned items from last year NAS when I came for this year NAS. True, you will not get your money available right away for a different purchase but at least they will not be lost.

Suz, I can totally empathize with the limitations of shopping in a small center. My son laughs at how much shopping I do when I visit him and my daughter-in-law in Toronto, but it is such a luxury to be able to take one's time instead of feeling pressured to make a decision.

I'm sure your Nordstrom's order will work out for you because you have been very careful with the items that you've chosen. Those tops sound lovely, and scarves and handbags don't have sizing issues. Each of the items you've ordered will play an important role in your wardrobe. Keeping my fingers crossed for a 100% success!

Awesome! I hope that the items work out for you. I have two of the tube skirts and love them. I did feel like they were a little long at first, but the short-waistedness of my body works in my favor because I can hike the waistband up farther. The raw edge seems like it would make it really easy to hem if you need to. My mom has the VC banded top in red and it looks incredible on her.
