I bought this parka for 50% off in early January, briefly tried it and put it away for later. I left the tags on because I had doubts about it, especially the hood. Now, 4 weeks later, DH and I over colds, (mostly) and a week-long visit from s-i-l, I got it out and tried it again and will keep it.
It's now 33% off. The hood relaxed from the creased, square shape.
I was tired of my old Tahari puffer bought at NAS 2009, but hadn't found a suitable replacement. I felt like the Michelin Man in it. Very, very, puffy.
I don't think I've ever had a light colored coat before--I did get this in cream. It is washable, with fake fur around the hood. Warm to -7°F. After my dreadful Christmas trip dragging my Michelin man parka to Chicago on the plane, I decided enough. Too bulky to fit in suitcase.
Never wore it: it was warmer in Chicago than in San Jose or L.A., where I dragged it next. The new one is less bulky & heavy. I will wear it if we go to Chicago next year, and will wear it I'm sure in the evenings here, for sure when we go to classes next month--we signed up for 2 evening classes. It can get very cold and foggy on campus.
The half belts on the back can be pulled a bit tighter to give me more of a waist--haven't tried it yet.
I've avoided off-whites for a long time, but have decided to bring a few back as they have a use. I do need to wear makeup with the light color, but I'm not wearing any today.
I could look for a photo of the old parka to compare. This one still has the tags on. In the past Lauren Ralph Lauren jackets have fit me pretty well.
ETA: Until I read Angies latest comment on this thread I had forgotten where I got the inspiration to take a chance on this parka. It was the January 2 roundup of Nordstrom Half year sale. https://youlookfab.com/2020/01.....ly-sale-4/
Thanks Angie!
