I'm taking a break from watching the polls, even though it's obvious who's winning to tell you all about the job I was offered today. I am very excited about it and had not mentioned this interview for fear of jinxing myself.

I mentioned to my hairdresser that I was looking for a part time job, preferably in a law office (I am a paralegal). She said she'd keep her ears peeled for me. Not even a week later, Maria called me with a great lead. A friend of hers who is a family law attorney was getting busy and needed someone to come in and help out in a myriad of ways. Not just as a paralegal, but also as an administrator and someone to establish filing systems, bookkeeping systems, and stuff like that. She is a one woman show, and has only been an attorney for 2 years.

So I sent her my resume, we met and she said she needed to calculate how much start up $ she'd need to get me outfitted with computer equipment, office equipment and bring in a new phone system etc. I've been waiting on pins and needles all week for her to call.

Anyway, she called today, offered me the job. During the interview she seemed very receptive to teaching me the ins and outs of this branch of law. (I was working in real estate law previously). I was afraid that my lack of experience in family law would disqualify me in her eyes. I'll be working 12 hours a week (which is perfect for me), I'll have mornings off and work 4 days a week. I can still volunteer at my son's school, hit the gym or walk, and keep my household running smoothly. I start on the 17th. To keep this fashion related (hee hee) I am very excited to have a reason to wear my work clothes again. (Although I have to admit I've been enjoying all my jeans these last few months).
