My (nearly) end of season 'review' and looking forward to autumn

Sorry for the really long title

I've always, when packing away one season's clothes, mentally 'reviewed' them - got rid of things I didn't wear, or that were looking passed their best, and working out what I need more of. Recently, I've started to write down my thoughts, so I would be better prepared at the start of that season the following year. So this year, although I am not yet packing away my summer clothes, I've been reviewing what's worked and what hasn't. No chance of filling any wardrobe holes, really, as our stores are full of winter sweaters and coats now LOL

I'm posting it on here as a sort of 'record' and to get it straight in my head!

What's worked:-

1. White bottoms (when the weather is kind enough) - I really like wearing my white linen trousers, white jeans and white bermudas, particularly with bright tops. NOTE FOR NEXT SUMMER - replace white linen trousers, maybe find a white skirt?

2. Buying some of these http://www.sandras-online.co.u.....t_id=30568 in black and white, to wear under tops with low necklines (that would be all of them - what is it with clothing manufacturers - no one needs to see the centre band of my bra). I then found this kind of thing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wome.....27c87204ff which come in lots of colours. Obviously, I'm only wearing these UNDER my clothes! Just wanted to make that clear.

3. Choosing tops that aren't t-shirts - maybe more drapey viscose blends, or cotton/linen instead. NOTE FOR NEXT SUMMER - buy more of these.

4. Working out capsules - see my thread here http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....long-sorry This made it easier to shop.

What hasn't worked (or needs work!):-

1. I need MORE clothes - more casual bottoms, more tops that co-ordinate. I have had several laundry bottle necks lately

2. Look for a casual summer dress (looking for one that suits my shape has turned into a Project with a capital 'p'!).

3. More accessories - coloured bags (I have one red one), jewellery.

So - I'm on track for what I need NEXT year. Time to think about A/W now!

Oh no Butterfly... It's always helpful for people to see others thoughts on what works for them...
Sometimes (like in my case) this causes a light bulb moment about oh ahhhh tht's what i felt too or yeah me too ones

Really interesting to see your review of the summer wardrobe. I like how you have broken it down and are prepared for next season. I really miss having a few summer tops, not tee's and tanks, with bright colour(s). Cotten, viscose and linen are good materials, as well as silk (but that would be too dressy for me, I think). Great to see more analysis going on. Mine was triggered by all the fall stuff coming into the shops which made me feel like the season was ending...and then we got lots of great sunny days! It is such a step forward when we understand our likes as well as needs. Great post!

I love reading though process and wardrobe analysis too! It's super helpful for a newbie and helps me work on my own wardrobe building if at least in my head.
