Today was the NAS day for me when I went to the Nordstrom over the border to try on my orders and see how lucky I was with them.
Well - not too much I regret to report
1. Burgundy NYDJ jeans - size 10 was too snug and bodycon (pic 1) and size 12 too loose - not my fit.
2. Topshop topper - just did not like it on me even after sizing down
3. Topshop vest - loved this piece but OMG I understand why Angie was sized out! I am usually size 10 or M and ordered size 8 - it was HUGE. Size 6 was much better and even size 4 was a good fit and this is on my size 10 frame! No wonder it was overwhelming on Angie with her size 0! I decided to go with size 6 as my hubby liked it better than size 4 for me - but unfortunately there was some stain or defect on the back and it was the only one in the store. I have ordered it to be picked up on the border though.
4. London Fog trench - Angie was right, it is an amazing piece. the color, the fabric, the hardware, the cut are stunning. However I don't agree that it is running big: I have a London Fog trench in size M and it is much roomier than this one - I would prefer this navy in size L to be comfortable in the shoulders. I did not get this beauty though because it did not pass the practicality test for me - the lining is not removable which makes it less useful in my climate. Also the sleeves were on the short side as well.
5. Vince Camuto top - again Angie was right, it is too bodycon for my liking. Also I think the fabric is not substantial enough so it was also a pass.
6. Michael Kors trench. I have ordered 2 - in cobalt and in red. The red was a good color for me but too muted for my liking. Looking in the mirror I saw that cobalt wasmore flattering - interesting thing that looking at the pictures now it seems that red is more flattering... but I liked the cobalt color much better. The fact that this trench has removable liner and hood and is waterproof is a selling factor for me. Bonus that sleeves are longer too. Alas - size M which I ordered was not 100% comfortable layered under. I think that it was a bit tight in the shoulders and therefore the top part was pulling a bit. Unfortunatley they did not have either red or blue in size L in the store but they had size L in the black. It was much more comfortable but maybe a bit big through the body. In the end I decided to order size L in cobalt in a hope that my Mom can alter it if the fit is too big.
7. Plaid culottes. They broke my heart! Size M I could hardly get over my hips and t was too tight. Size L was too big but even then it did not lie well in the hi[p area and the sides looked funny. After some agonizing thinking and trying to decide if my Mom can alter size L I decided to pass. Even though Angie said in her review that this style works well for pears and hourglasses it did not work well for this hourglass. I did not take a picture because I was too frustrated to think about it!
8. Born tall boots. They broke what was left of my heart! The footbed was comfortable, the color was perfect grey- but they were too tall in the calf and gaped big time. Finding tall boots is a nightmare!
9. Sperry booties. This one was biggest frustration - THEY LOST MY ORDER IN THE STORE AFTER IT WAS RECEIVED!!! And of course they were not available in the store in my size in any color. How is that for a good shopping luck? They did refund the price so no problem there. I still decided to order them to my US address to be picked up together with the vest and the trench even though there is a high possibility they will not work for my feet. I felt really sad about those.
10. KUT plaid skinnies. At last some nice surprise and score! Size 10 technically fitted but was too body con and the fit on the hip bones was too tight. I liked size 12 much better (pics 4-6) I hope they will not stretch too much. They are kind of ponte fabric which is not too thick, not too thin - I think it is perfect And look at the length!!! Una, they are NOT ankle length on me at all - look at all that scrunch!!!
11. Franco Sarto booties Another pleasant surprise - Franco Sarto booties in Whiskey color. Angie (and some reviews) said they were narrow but they were not narrow for me - and narrow toe box is my usual problem with shoes. Love the cognac (or whiskey) color (pics 4-6) and hopefully they will stay comfortable through the road test.

So these are my meager NAS results so far: plaid skinnies and whiskey booties.
The cobalt trench, the Topshop vest and Sperry boots are still coming though so in the end it should not be too bad.
