Lisa p: this might help to understand: the Nordstrom canada site is actually just the US site with the product prices changed to CAD, and reflecting the current exchange rate. I think they might also hide some products that are unavailable in Canada. Because it's really the US site "under the covers" , they ship from the US. That's why you pay duty, etc.
However, if you find the product code of the item on the Nordies website (it's listed right under the product name), you can call up your local, Canadian Nordstrom and ask if they have it, and they'll give you the price in a Canadian dollars. This is NOT just the US price plus exchange. It is a Canada-specific price. So for example a Smythe blazer will likely be way cheaper in a Canadian Nordies, or the Nordies house brands will likely be cheaper, because they're priced for the Canadian market (and they know we are a poorer lot!).
They can also look up the item to see if it is carried anywhere in Canada and, I THINK, ship it to your local Nordies for free.
