Back in October my husband and I were shopping at Goodwill for books, music, and specifically a pet carrier. The over planner that I am really wants one carrier per pet in case we ever need to leave the house quickly. All five will not cram into the one carrier we have.
But anyway. We didn't find a carrier but at the check out the sales girl said I should enter their Brand U Makeover contest. Goodwill of Central Texas does a drawing for a makeover every September. The contest is designed to encourage people to shop at Goodwill for back to school and career wear. So I entered and promptly forgot all about it.
Two weeks later I got a call from the Goodwill Events Coordinator telling me I'd won! Two people were drawn from over 13 stores.
On the day of the makeover I, along with the other winner, met at a local salon for hair consultations. After we met with the stylists we were taken to a local Goodwill to spend our respective $100 gift cards. I found several fun/trendy pieces including a boyfriend jacket from H&M.
After shopping, we headed back to the salon for haircuts, color, makeup, and manicures and pedicures. After we were made up and dressed in our new outfits, we each had a photo shoot. The photos are to be used for Goodwill's advertising, but we were both given a copy of five shots. One of my photoswill be used on the Brand U Makeover billboards next fall. The other photos will be displayed in stores or in Goodwill online and print ads.
I felt like a princess for a day, and feel very lucky to be chosen.
I've worn several of my pieces in my most recent outfits, and am using the makeup tips I learned. In addition, I found a new stylist who "gets" me and does miraculous things with my hair.
