My little booties broke :(

Uhoh. My little booties broke - I stepped on a sharp stone and it went right through the sole! That would probably be why they were so cheap... but at least I know I want a pair of ankle boots! (PS: My dad stuck a piece of inner tire over the inside with superglue so they're okay for now).

I'm torn between wearing something fun or something that looks more polished. :p I'm kinda looking forward to colder weather so I can bust these out...

Any opinions on a small little browsed selection?

#1) Clarks - I love the scrunch in front
#2) Clarks - Look very comfy
#3) Doc Martens - Come on, are these not AWESOME?

That stinks about your booties! But if it means you get to buy the Docs in pic 3 - then it might be totally worth the disappointment.

Tee hee, I already own two pairs of Docs and I adore them - a black tall pair and a cognac tall pair ... They need a third family member, perhaps?

I'm with Girl X as far as love for the Docs...

But are you looking for your new booties to slip into the exact same role as the old?

Thanks, Rae - Not really; there were some flaws with the old pair that I didn't like, including that they gaped a bit too much so people made fun of my white socks all day (haha) ... and my old ones were pretty casual. I'm going to wear them on the wards and things, but I think as I declare myself as a psych-canidate, people will be more lax about what I wear :p

Ooh, psych-candidate! I've always found psych very interesting, but my fear of people kind of gets in the way. o_0 Now I stick to cat psychology!

Now I'm torn, as the Docs are very casual. But the awesomeness kind of transcends the casual-ness. Hrm... I'm clearly no help.

People are very interesting; I enjoy learning about them and their stories ...

I suppose I will have to dress the Docs up; but I think they may help dress my clothes down, as they're a bit stuffy for psych

I am also in love with these Docs...

I think the first Docs probably straddle the dressy-casual line better than the second. But I see your point about dressing outfits down - ironically, I find tough-combat-booted people very approachable.

I would go for #1 and 3 - they are completely different in style and both will work for your style.

Di - Great idea! But I paid $30 for them and they're not very high quality little booties; I bought them just to see if I liked ankle boots! I guess I do!

Lyn if you can only buy one pair it has to be the Docs! However if you can stretch to two pairs I love #1 also. But as mentioned earlier by Di it might be worth having the exisiting ones mended and then you can get the Docs and still have the option of the of wearing the booties you already own. I realise the booties were not expensive but if they look great and you enjoy them it might actually be worth it. I recently spent the same amount that I paid for a vintage dress on some alterations to it and it was worth every cent:)

What quality are the broken booties, and how long did they last before breaking? While I do agree it's worth it to fix shoes you love, I'd argue against paying to repair a low quality item. I feel like it might just break again in short order. Better to use that money for something else. Then again, maybe $30 will get you better quality in Canada...?

Haha; they're from Forever 21 and were a whim buy when I went there with my mother :p

I'd totally repair (and have repaired) my Doc Marten black boots - then again, I got them for $15. LOL.
