My Linen Dress Came! - YouLookFab Forum

I ordered a linen dress from Etsy back in February.

It finally came today (although this was much sooner than expected, and since it came from Belarus, I'm surprised). The package exteroor had all these cute sayings on it. Inside was a biodegradable mailer, and it was packed with cardboard to keep it tidy.
It fits really well. The linen is a nice quality and so is the workmanship. This feels like it will last a really long time. I love the dark olive green color, and am anxious to wash it and wear it soon. It could be worn either way, but I prefer the V and slit in the front- it's more flattering. The sleeve has a notch in it, but I think that I will turn them up into a cuff and tack in place This is a great addition to my new workwear wardrobe.
The bad news is that this Etsy shop is now gone. I'm not sure if it's permanent or not, but it makes me sad. I was poised to order more from them.

Gorgeous colour and looks amazing on you! Isn’t it impressive, and a bit mind boggling how quickly Etsy items from Belarus and Eastern European countries make it to North America? Why not drop the seller a line if possible to find out what their plans might be?

Angie- that's not an option, even if I wanted to. The shop has disappeared from Etsy. It wouldn't fit, though. This just barely fits over my hips. Anything smaller wouldn't make it.

I would not contact the owner. Belarus is under sanctions by the US and only trade in food and pharmaceuticals is continuing as usual.

I had a similar situation with a Russian lady I bought from in the past. She wrote me recently that Etsy has shut down their sites so that may be the case with your shop. Maybe they will be back in the future.

Cute! I like the V in front and the sleeves rolled. Great length and color. Too bad the shop is gone, hopefully it will return.

Lana- I hope so. I saw other shops from Belarus are still active, but it may just be taking time to get to everyone. The shop isn't cometely gone, just disabled, so they may come back. I ordered this back at the beginning of February before the war in Ukraine happened. Crazy how the world has changed in that time. I'm looking to order more linen clothing, but trying to use US shops next time.

Score, I like it both ways!!:-) and answering ANGIE- 100%linen tends to shrink, so at least it will be safe in size if doing that by laundering.

Beautiful dress -- what a great colour! I actually quite like the ease. I think the fit is good and with a little wash and wear the fabric should relax and get drapier.

I suspect their Etsy shop disappeared because of Etsy's policy of removing Russian sellers from the platform (I guess it extends to Belarus?).

My favorite linen shop is Not Perfect Linen. They're based in Lithuania and still shipping internationally. The last I heard (via their Instagram), they were doing quite a bit of volunteer work to help Ukrainian refugees, and donating a percentage of their sales to aid organizations. https://www.etsy.com/shop/notPERFECTLINEN

I have a few pieces of US-made linen but the quality of Baltic linen is really better than what you'll get from Pyne & Smith, Eileen Fisher, etc. Softer and more substantial. The best quality linen I've seen in a made-in-the-US garment is Elizabeth Suzann, but her production is quite limited these days.

Great color! I saw some great linen things, I think also from Belarus, but was hesitant cause the international shipping.
