All my shopping is arriving today, it seems. The dress came and I love it! I love everything about it. I dare say I think it's perfect, for me. Next comes playing with all the various ways to style the ubiquitous little black dress! For now I just wanted to share my fab new find It has a mesh overlay that I tried to get better detail of. Oops, I didn't straighten it first. Ah, well . . .

I could just hug you gals! Thank you so much. Una, I really do feel like this is 'the one'. Dianthus, you're right - how lucky to have a mail delivery item turn out to be so much more than I could have hoped.
Now my homework this week is to try to style it in various ways so I get the wear out of it that it deserves!!

It's wonderful!

My only concern, as someone with an LBD with a rather large shoulder ruffle, is that it won't be as versatile as the ideal LBD. I'm afraid that the mesh overlay won't look right with necklaces or belts. If you need it to be styles multiple ways, be sure to make sure that those all work before you cut the tags. My LBD can do belts ok, but has limited layering capabilities and necklaces compete for attention with the shoulder ruffle. The result is that it's a lot harder to change its look than I had thought it would be, all thanks to that darn ruffle.

I hope I'm wrong and that yours can be styled an infinite number of ways!

Good points, Kate. I wonder if being slightly sheer will make the mesh play better with necklaces. I do have several chokers if the mesh ends up competing. I'm not much of a belter in general, but will try a few looks out. Seeing as I never had a little black dress besides one hastily bought for a funeral, I've never had the opportuntiy to try out its versatility, so even 3 looks would have me WAY ahead of the game here lol!

I personally think there are (at least) TWO kinds of LBD.

One is the kind whose main purpose is versatility. For that, it needs to be a fairly simple cut. Something that fades into the background.

And then there is the LBD whose main purpose is to make you look understatedly sexy. The kind of dress you can put on if you are going out for the evening and just KNOW you want to shine, without shouting, "Hey, over here! Look at me!!!"

THAT is the kind that this dress is. It isn't as versatile as dress #1. Yes, you can change the look a little bit with shoes/sandals and other accessories. But essentially, this is an evening or cocktail dress that just makes you look fabulous. Everybody needs a dress like that!

Wow, Mo! You are breathtaking in this dress! It's one of my all-time YLF favorites! I would like to see it styled with a killer statement bracelet and heels and let the neckline be the star.

I think this makes a killer cocktail dress. I could see you wearing it for cocktails, out to dinner at a fancy restaurant with your SO, or maybe to a nighttime wedding. I'm not so sure I would wear it for a funeral, though. I have a feeling that all eyes will be on you EVERY single time you wear this dress!

Hmmm, good points Suz and Deb. I was thinking of 3 or 4 functions. Funeral was one of them - with an understated long jacket over the top and opaque hose. Then of course was the dress/date night option with heels and some sparkly jewelry. I also thought funky, with maybe a slight military vibe, for out to hear music, etc. And lastly, dressy casual with a colored cardi or denim jacket over it and flats.
Is it off limits for funeral even with say, a long wool coat or trench on top?

Beautiful and even better ON you. Nice choice. You'll get tons of use out of it! You can accessorize with evening bag, shoes, rings or bracelets and huge earrings, maybe some sparkly pins.
