This is the first winter that I have succeeded in meeting my long-stated goals of wearing dresses and skirts frequently. I’ve implemented some headmistressy austere viciousness here and there. I believe I’ve achieved it because of a trifecta of global warming (certainly there have been Januaries past with -26 degrees Fahrenheit), my poor old doggie not needing the long walks every day, and maybe having a better collection of tights that are comfortable and don’t feel too precious for everyday.

I’ve been noticing a lot of stripes and tweeds and tipped knitwear/ jackets lately in my visual feeds. They seem to be walking a sort of French-preppy balance beam. I am thinking the key is not to take the whole thing too seriously and go for comfortable insouciance over appropriate looks backward. A little more Alex Mill than Chanel.

I’ll look for some opportunities to get in photos as I let this filter into the day to day. What do you all feel coming down the pike?
