I have quite a few items in my wardrobe that give me high joy, but are less worn than other items. Items that I don’t treat as everyday wear. This may be because they feel a little too glamorous or over the top for everyday wear. Or it could be because they are too delicate. Metallic knits and mesh skirts do not like doggy paws. I also have some sheer synthetic items that I love but can only wear when the weather is cool but not cold. And some sleeveless or short sleeve knits that I also love but require just the right weather (usually late autumn, early winter or early spring). And some summer tops that are too sun exposed for everyday wear but perfect for indoor wear or summer evenings.
I feel like these items give my wardrobe character and interest. They certainly give me great joy. And, as I said on Angie’s post, they make the occasions on which I wear them a more special experience.
The items I think of in particular are my metallic items, velvet, silk, some dressier tops and skirts. I wear them to lunch, dinner, coffee, movies, shopping, to visit my mum. Some I’ve had for a long time. Some are newer. I can dress them up or down but generally I dress the more glamorous items down for daytime wear - especially via footwear. I have occasionally worn them to walk my dog but generally only when that was incidental to going to meet someone.
I find them thrilling to wear. That joy is priceless, I think
