Meryl Streep gave the best speech (SUBLIME), followed by Ryan Gosling, Sarah Paulson, Hugh Laurie and the writers who won for the song from La La Land.

Jimmy Fallon, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt, Chris Pine, Steve Carell and Tom Hiddleston looked best in their suits.

Janet, I bet you'd like the show. It was quite political - how could it not be, I guess.

Xtabay, you said it, sister!

Really wanted Rami Malek to win for Mr. Robot, and see more awards go to Manchester by the Sea. Have to see Moonlight, and La La Land was very deserving of its seven awards. Ryan Gosling REALLY played the piano in the movie. Soooo talented.

Jimmy Fallon had just the right energy to host the show.

anyway, as I mentioned on Janet's post,, I loved Evan Rachel Wood and Octavia Spencer's suits, loved Thandie Newton's dress, and I'm still trying to decide how I feel about Ruth Negga's dress.....but I love that she took a risk.

I didn't watch the awards but I loved Viola, Evan, Thandie and Emma Stone. Ryan Gosling and Tom Hiddleston looked incredibly good in their suits.

I am biased here because I loved La La Land and I adore Emma Stone. And Ryan Gosling piano and dancing, swoon!!

I totally agree Angie. Manchester by the Sea is such an amazing film - I absolutely loved it! Often when I go to the cinema, my expectations are high and I yearn to have an emotional experience. It doesn't happen often, unfortunately, but MbtS certainly came through for me. So understated also. Casey Affleck - what a performance (thank goodness he won last night!).
Meryl Streep, after saying that she will have to read her speech, just went ahead and delivered it from memory anyway. So spot on and very, very impressive!
I also loved Kristen's haircut!
I really enjoyed the show. Can't wait for "Elle" with Isabelle Huppert.

I watched all but the last hour. Love all your outfit pics, totally agree. I'm sure there were more I liked but can't remember offhand. Loved Meryl Streep's speech, such a wonderful person.

I watched most of the awards but not the red carpet so missed lots of the outfits. Highlight of the evening was Meryl Streep's speech. She spoke the truth with no vulgarities or saying what most would be tempted to say.
Viola was radiant in her bright yellow gown and eloquent. She could play Michelle Obama when a movie is made of her life.

I agree that Viola Davis sported the best look of the night! And I loved her intro to Meryl, who in turn gave a wonderful intro to Donald.

I forgot to mention my favorite joke of the evening. Jimmy Fallon when he said "In case you were wondering what happened to King Joffrey, you'll see in 12 days."

Evan Rachel Wood's suit was very New Romantic. Loved it. Also - Annette Bening!! Woo hoo! So glad to see her again, as she's one of my favorite actresses.

I liked Emma Stone and Brie Larsen too. Actually it's almost hard to pick because overall I thought this was one of the nicer collections of gowns compared to prior events.

I didn't watch either but I saw the dresses on line. I LOVED Viola Davis' look. She is just amazing all around. I loved the other looks you picked too and enjoyed seeing Kristen Wiig on your list. She got panned in a lot of the lists that I saw and I couldn't figure out why. One fashion reviewer said she looked like an "old doily". I thought she looked fantastic. I also thought that Janae looked great.

4-6. beautiful whites (Gillian Anderson is my pers fave(nr 4-esp love her greying hair to this), but what was Jessica thinking???( nr 6)
7-9. reds, loved nr 7 the most
10- awarded for simplicity, no shine & rare color
11 my all times favorite sheer florals
12-13 -a lace and an appliqué fabness
14-15 -two pretty mommis (is GalGadot really preggy??)
