I've learned from experience that deep winter is not my best time for an overhaul. I hunker down in January, read and nurture myself in readiness for the new light of spring.

However, in the spirit of your New Year posts, I am setting myself a gentle intention, I am granting myself permission to spend, not in a recklessly wanton way, but if I see an item I like, which fits a need and I can afford, I will no longer waste energy hunting for a bargain alternative which I know at checkout is lacking and will lead to an unnecessary return.

Here's an example, I first saw the Toast cords below in October, they are in budget, suit my lifestyle and would work with my wardrobe but they are slightly more that I would like to spend. Instead of buying the trousers I have spent time I don't have to spare researching cheaper alternatives resulting in returns to & Other Stories, Cos and Great Plains.

I still haven't purchased the Toast cords but I have decided if they are still available at the end of the month they will be heading my way https://www.toa.st/collections.....s-concrete

I did purchase a Furla bag using my new criteria, I have been wanting but not actively searching for a small, light neutral, cross body bag and came across the Furla Babylon on their website. Once more it was an item within my budget but more than I usually spend, however, this time I considered the purchase for a couple of days then ordered the item. On arrival the colour is darker than expected but works so well with my existing wardrobe and greying hair and I'm actually excited to create outfits and put the bag to work.

I know my intention is not groundbreaking but hopefully, this small change in mindset will lead to healthier spending habits and some wardrobe items I treasure too.
