My Gap sweater has arrived! - YouLookFab Forum

My son ordered it for my birthday and it arrived today - just 2 days late.
This is L Tall. The sleeves are LONG (no complains here) and the length is good too, no? I don't think I should size up in it, it is quite roomy. But...
...what is wrong with my neck? Really I feel like a freak. It looks OK from the front - more or less - but look at the side and back view! And my neck is not scrawny at all, not thick but not thin either, kind of average.
I am so heartbroken, I cannot wear it like this, can I? I guess if I size down to M the neck may fit better but then I would loose the slouchy fit which I like...Grrrrr!!!!
I wonder if I pulled it too much back and that's why neck sticks out on the back...but I thought it supposed to be longer in the back...
I also ordered another sweater in L Tall and it is too small. I have tried M in the store - they did not have anything else - and it was close fitting so I though L should be fine. Armholes are on the tight side even if it is not too tight in the body. I have ordered XL today but if the sleeves will be as tight I think I would have to pass - I cannot stand a sweater with tight sleeves!

All in all it looks like I am not that lucky in sweater shopping,...:-(

Good grief Sveta - you are not a freak! I think the cream sweater is gorgeous on you - truly I do. The neck of the sweater is like that - check out the others who have it. I think the size is perfect and it will work incredibly well with your wardrobe and style. See what others say, but I really like it.

The striped one...yeah, I tried that one on too and it fit weird. I say return if it's too tight in the arms.

How about if you had a thin print scarf wrapped closely around your neck so that it sticks up about as much as shirt collar. Or in fact a shirt. That kind of neck leaves room for some
bit of frippery in the opening.

I really love this cream sweater on you, and the neck looks fine. Your neck is lovely, and the neckline of the sweater is NOT making anything look weird.
Sorry you aren't getting the fit you want on the stripe sweater. I like the colors, so I hope you have luck funding something that is better for you.

Maybe I need to adjust my eyes to this neck. It is just so weird that nobody else seems to have this problem but myself...
Maybe I should steam it out a bit and try again...
I hope the blue sweater in XL has wider armholes. I like it a lot...

The sweater with the python booties look fantastic. I see what you mean about the neck from the side but I think it is fine and you should wear the heck out of both sweaters.

Not just saying it - I think the cream sweater is so lovely on you. I hope you keep it as I think you would have many styling opps with it. I love the colours and fit of the blue one also so hope that the size up sleeves won't be as tight.

I tried this sweater, too, Sveta, and decided against it because of the neck. It just looked wierd on me, too wide or something, just not flattering. I see what you mean from behind, but it looks good from the front. I love the blue stripe sweater!

I think I am getting used to this neck...I ripped off the tag from the cream sweater!

Sveta, I think the neck will relax into itself, if you know what I am saying. I think if you pull it a tiny bit at the front (just the neck) and shrug your shoulders a bit, it will just "settle" after half an hour or thereabouts. It looks fantastic on you overall, and is great with those booties.

I also love the blue stripe. I am sorry the arms don't work, but hope you will try the other size, because the overall concept is super for you.

You are building some excellent casual capsule elements here.

I really like them both on you, but especially the cream one.

I think the neck is supposed to look as it does, not like a normal turtleneck. I would definately keep the cream one. It is so pretty on you!

It's not you, Sveta. The neck did that on me too.for the record, I think it looks good on you. This is an unusual shape for a sweater, so it's going to take a little getting used to.

The boots are fabulous! They are a cool exclamation point on a sophisticated yet simple outfit.

I like the white sweater more, but that does not mean that the blue/gray is not also a winner. I just love the long lean proportions of both outfits. NICE!

Both look perfect to me! The neck on the cream sweater is supposed to do that, and I think even if you go a size smaller it will stand out, but marginally less than this one, so no real difference there. I love the blue sweater too and think this fit is nicer than a slouchy one in this striped pattern would be!

I don't think this neck style is supposed to fit streamlined like a turtleneck, it's supposed to be loose. I like it, but if your eye cannot adjust you will have to pass. This is lovely on you though especially with those booties. I like the second sweater too, but if it is too tight pass on it. Too many other sweaters to settle on a sub par one.

I see what you mean about the neck but agree that it will soften as you wear it. Someone on the forum has this sweater and folded the neck down. That looked very smart too. Glad you decided to keep it!

Hello pretty Sveta in the pretty sweata! I love it and kudos to your son! I'm about to go to Gap to compare a size up. I don't know what to tell you about the funnel neck space as I didn't look at my backside or take the cool additional photos like you and Inge did. I think the cream sweater is gorgeous on you. I hever even looked at myself from the back (but I have long hair that would cover it) but I vote join us on Team Front and don't worry about the back.

What's maybe wrong is what's above that neck It's all about perception - it's not our body that's wrong, only the garment can be wrongly made for it.

I also like the cream sweater on you Sveta. The neck is meant to be like this and perhaps a steam and just play with it a little until it feels right for you. The neck gives it a slightly RATE and cool vibe.
