My first WIW YLF app post, plus new haircut

So new country, new haircut!! For the first time in my entire life I have a fringe. I am still getting used to styling it and I really need to do my brows. have also included a photo pre fringe.

Also a WIW to the local market today. I have skinny jeans and soft pink ballet flats. Not killer but a fit for purpose outfit.

Welcome back and Welcome home! LOVE the photo of you with the little one! I hope the transition is going smoothly. As a Yank, I truly cherished my OE in Wellington in 2006 with DH and hope to return to visit before my own tots get too old!

We are mostly settled in, first weekend in Taupo. Can't wait for our shipping to arrive from the UK in January.

@mamakate - yay someone else who knows and loves Wellington.

@claire - I have bought straighteners which help, trying to work out styling products and technique though. Any tips from experts appreciated.

This is such a great haircut for a lot of women, and you are one of them. Hope it's also kid-friendly and easy to style!

(I'm so jealous of you living in NZ--that's probably the first place I would pick to visit for at least a month or two.)

You look great with your new fringe and your baby girl is adorable. You've got beautiful eyes and I think your new look accentuates them. One thing about bangs (that's what I call them), is that they can grow out fairly quickly and occasionally I have my DH do the lightest trimming so I don't start to split them, and he just takes the slightest bit off. Welcome home and hope your shipment arrives soon.

I really like your fringe too, it does bring out your eyes, and you have great pouty lips too! When I straighten my fringe, I do it in sections. I spray a little hairspray on it (I use cedel, I don't know if you have it in Kiwi land? I'm an Aussie girl) then run the iron through it. It makes a lovely little sizzling noise! Maybe not recommended by hair stylists, but I have frizzy/curly hair and this works really well for mine.

Thank you all for your lovely comments. I never thought about my eyes being a significant or good feature of my face.

@Ornella - I have always been put off having a fringe because of my curly hair and when I was little I had Shirley Temple-esque ringlets, so I have never been sure how my hair would be with a fringe or short.

@Mochi - NZ is lovely, but I am going to miss living in the UK!

@Vicki - there is no way that I am going to let my husband anywhere near my hair with scissors! Most hairdressers will trim fringes for free here in between cuts. I have already noted how quick it is to grow.

@Soobee - does this not damage your hair in the long run? I have always been wary of using high heat on my hair for fear of damage.

I thought that it might damage hair in the long run also, but it hasn't had any effect on mine at all. As my hair's so curly, I need to use this method to keep it under control, and for me personally, my hair grows very quickly and I only straighten my fringe so it's not a problem
