My First WIW: Midi Madness

Thank you in advance for your kind but honest comments on my first WIW. I was tempted to post a tried and true outfit but I decided to step out of my comfort zone. This skirt has been an orphan for some time as I have not been confident of the style on me or what to wear with it. I normally wear dresses and skirts that are pencil or straight, so this silhouette is very different for me. How are the proportions? I am only 5"1 and a bit).

I really like the outfit. I normally shy away from dresses and skirts with a contrast band at the bottom but with the black boots, it really works. I can see this with a colored jacket too or a necklace with some sparkle or shine.

Ladies thank you so much for your encouragement and kind words. It's awesome to be in the company of such stylish women. Dianthus, I don't have a coloured jacket but it's on my wish list:). Queen Mum, Target has some wonderful ranges here (Australia), last year we had StellaMcCartney. And Sarah, Angie's blog topic today was great.

You look terrific! I think the skirt length works beautifully with the boots.

It is a theory of mine that sometimes we smaller women (I am 5' 4" with short limbs) can get away more easily with midi-looks when they are worn with boots. Thank you for proving my case!

I really like your WIW.
Except, if I was you, I'd wear other shoes, you know, for to show some skin between the hem and top of the shoes. Shorter boots, or booties with black opaque pantyhose, because in my opinion, when skirt cover the boots it looks too old-fashioned for eternally young girl like us.

You look great - I agree with Suz, I can only really wear this length of skirt with boots (I'm 5ft 3 and a half!), for some reason that I can't work out, it just looks better.

Irene, bj1111, & Maryk great ideas. Long boots are the best option at the moment as we are in the middle of a very cold winter but a nice pump in the warmer weather could work and different boots as suggested... I will have fun trying your ideas out.
