New Sheinside glam summer dress! Is it okay??

I had never heard of Sheinside until Angie showed a little ruched sleeve blazer from them. My interest was piqued.

I checked out their site for several months. The prices are good. The sizes definitely run small. (hard for me since I am 5'11 and have wider shoulders and hips.) I still hadn't purchased anything until a few weeks ago. This dress immediately caught my eye! It's orange, it's glam, and it has pockets! Not to mention it will be airy and cool.

I can't wear a bra with it. It's backless and the top portion of it just fits me. Another 1/4-1/2" smaller and I wouldn't be able to button it, let alone breathe. This is not an easy bohemian tunic dress with no tailoring, that's for sure!

It has pretty deeply cut bust sides, and it gaps some. I think my gifted tailor can add a couple of darts to fix the gaping.

It feels a little revealing and I feel shy about it. Definitely not a work or church dress without a topper. But...I love it to death already. I feel glamorous in it.

It was also only $23. Not justifying it just, wow! I couldn't sew a similar dress for that.

The cut is stunning on you! Very bombshellish.

If it's comfortable enough on top and the gapping can be fixed, I'd say it's a keep.

Gorgeous bombshell keeper, just make sure there won't be any wardrobe malfunctions at the wrong time.

It's a great dress on you--love the color and style. Maybe there's a bra out there that you could wear with it, if it would make you feel more comfortable. Or perhaps the darts will work. For a casual look, what about layering a bandeau top underneath?

First, you just look smashing in this dress...I had to smile at how well it fits and how great you look...
Yet, and there is a yet, I want you to sit, stand kneel, move about and be sure that you are comfortable and covered in all positions...There has to be a bra that would lend you security as you wear the dress...without wardrobe malfunctions...I am sure your tailor could offer some help...
As soon as you are comfortable, be sure and publish the next set of this lovely little number...
(And I am sure you go out other than work and church...smile...)

I think the color and shape is pretty smashing on you. (Gosh I love orange). I also wonder if insert bra cups would work, and think that it's worth getting the tailor to make the fit feel 'safe'. I like it with the sandals and also your gift wedges. The dress is so bombshell/flattering on it's own that the platform heels seem not as necessary, if that makes sense.

Aubergine, it's a keeper than! It does need a bit of tailoring. And I do want to figure out something for a bra of sorts. I'm just not used to so much, um, freedom. After 20 years of wearing a bra, it's definitely a different feeling.

Karin, this dress was a gamble, since they only showed the back of it. And they only went up to a size Large. So I'm glad it fit I've tried those silicone paste-on bras before when I was in some weddings. They don't work. I think it's purely for psychological security.

Angie, the front of it doesn't bother me, security wise. It needs a bit of tailoring so it lays nicely, but otherwise it's good. It's the deeply cut sides that make me a little shy. With the sides so open will something malfunction? The bodice is so fitted nothing is probably going to pop out the side, except if I eat too much and pop a button. But still, different from what I'm used to. Sidenote: it really is fitted within a millimeter of my life; if I could size up and get it taken in, I would. But it fits and I'm going with it.

Crutcher, I'm so glad you love the dress!! You are so wise. I did some sitting, up-and-down, and layed down in it. Everything stayed put. BUT... I am going to jump and twist around in it while standing. I can be quite the mover and would like to be certain everything stays under wrap. I'll visit my tailor and see what she recommends. Rabbit, Thank you so much! I love orange dearly! Inserting bra cups is a really good idea and might just be the perfect solution. I'll see what my tailor says. And I see what you mean about the platform heels! I looked at the photo again, and the dress looks a bit costumey and overdone with the heels. I do wish I had a pair of 1940s/70s chunky heeled sandals for it. I think that would be really fun. But for now, the wedges and sandals will be nice with it.

Cute dress! And while this may not be the look you are going for, I have seen some cute combinations like this with summer dresses. They would be a casual, fun way of adding an underlayer, though sewn-in cups would work, too.

If you are comfortable going braless and your tailor is able to tighten up the gaping, toupee tape works beautifully for holding fabric to skin without ripping off a layer of skin afterwards. I use it to tack down problem areas of costumes to my body during shows and DragonCon, it's pretty sweat-resistant. I get it from local beauty supply stores. I think I paid around $7 for 30 or so pieces last time I bought it.

tricia w., for a long time I did the bohemian thing and side-stepped my glam side. But now, it's kind of time to put on the dress and embrace it again, and it feels rather nice. I feel more comfortable and relaxed about. Like it's part of me instead of trying hard to have a defined style. Not sure if that makes sense.

Summer, thank you I'm just so glad it fit. I'm going to see my tailor this week. I'm hopeful she can fix the gaping, and maybe even let it out a bit so the waist just for a little comfort and ease.
