I learned about NAS on YLF, so thanks for that!

My business trip got extended by a day and I wasn't prepared like normal, so what's a girl to do...go to Nordies for NAS, of course!

For some reason I was under the impression that I made my selections now but wasn't able to take the merchandise home until the 19th but this didn't happen - what I bought I walked away with immediately (doing a happy dance down the aisle, haha). Did I make that up or do some stores do that? I was in Austin TX, FWIW.

I didn't really know what to expect - for some reason I thought maybe the entire store would be shut down except for cardholders with appointments but it made a lot more sense once I got there and saw the curtained-off areas scattered around the store. Silly me, they wouldn't stop other customers from buying regular merch during this period. That was kind of stupid of me, but anyway.

I didn't have an appointment, the store was in relative order and there weren't that many shoppers. The sales people told me earlier in the day and on Weds it had been a madhouse. I guess I picked the right time to shop (Thurs around 6pm).

I have been underwhelmed by the salespeople in the Plus size department at this Nordstrom. I have had stellar help in the Kansas City Nordstrom, by contrast. I don't know what it is with the Austin store but the few times I have shopped here the sales people don't seem to "get" me or my style, suggesting things I would never wear (no offense to anyone, I just think their typical plus clientele might skew older and more conservative than me). Luckily I am a pretty independent shopper.

I ended up getting the following:
Item 1: two pairs VC leggings to replace the one pair I have (different brand) that is damaged beyond repair. Higher quality fabric than any of my other leggings.

Item 2: Sejour peplum top in purple. Super comfy and the structure is just what I need in a top. Pretty jeweled neckline.

Items 3 and 4: two of the VC tube skirts. Tried the 1x but it felt big, got the XL (in case anyone is wondering about sizing on larger sizes). I bought the heather gray stripe and ivory stripe.
**just noticed more colors added online and some on sale/clearance, might buy more as it is super comfy and versatile!**

Item 5: Frye Veronica Back Zip Short Boots in Black
Pinned months ago as my "drool worthy" boots, how lucky that they came up on NAS! I found these ran 1/2 size smaller than the normal (non-zip) Veronica shorties. I had to size up to a 9 in these whereas my others are 8.5. I figure it is due to the zipper construction. Like all Fryes they take a bit of breaking in but I find they are already loosening up after only a few hours wear this morning.

I wore the black/gray stripe skirt with the purple peplum top on Friday to work with patent red flats. The outfit felt a little dark for it being July, but I wanted to buy things that would be flexible for my part WFH / part MOTG / part corporate office capsules. Next time I think I will wear the peplum top with a charcoal and black skirt I have, very similar to this one:

Thanks Angie and the YLF crew for the inspiration on the VC midi tube skirts. I never would have picked them on my own, and I even branched out by NOT getting a solid black in the 2-for $79 promo. The pre-YLF me would have by default chosen the black as one of my selections, but I didn't listen to that "practical" voice in my head this time.

I even traveled home (2 flights) wearing this skirt and it was super comfy. I think it may become part of my new travel uniform!

I feel like a cheater, I said I was going to try to sit out NAS but I just couldn't resist these few things.

Thanks for reading.
