I just purchased my first leather handbag. All my life, I've bought synthetics, and they fall apart after about a year. I hate how the straps especially get dry and scratchy where the coating has worn off.

The leather bag I bought was a small tote, because my current bag (which is wearing out) is almost the exact same size, and I knew that size would work for me. I still plan to buy a smaller satchel as per my recent thread on styles of handbags.

It was expensive, but Macy's had 20% off recently, and from what I hear, leather handbags are worth the expense.

How do all of you care for your leather handbags?
