My favorite new beauty find of 2019

I experimented a little with some new products this year, but I tend to be the kind of person who finds something that works and sticks with it!

I decided to try a cream blush after realizing my aging skin could use a little extra moisture, and I really like this one by Milk. Their products are cruelty-, paraben- and phthalate-free.

It goes on smoothly and blends so nicely it gives a subtle glow, nothing harsh or overly bright. I get the “Werk” shade, a dusty rose, which seems to work nicely on my skin tone.

Oh I love this thread! Can’t wait to hear everyone’s answers!

Mine undoubtedly Huda Beauty. Their Demi matte cream lipstick is the only product I’ve found that lasts all day, and the colors are perfect for all skin tones.

Also their eye shadow palettes mix and match seamlessly and Blend beautifully. My favorite find of 2019!

For years and years I’ve been using Sebastian Potion #9 as a leave in conditioner for wash and go curls. This year I discovered an even better product - better smell (citrus), better frizz control - Marc Anthony Strictly Curls Curl Envy Curl Cream.

Also, a shout out for prescription Ivermectin (Rosiver) for treatment of Rosacea. It has been a game changer for me.

@Carla - have you tried Curl Keeper by the Jonathan Torch Curly Hair Institute? I tried it after years of trying to find the right product ave it’s been a godsend. Separated curls without weighing them down.

It's a 10 Miracle Hair Mask has been just that for my fine, very curly hair, which can't tolerate heavy ingredients like shea butter or coconut oil. Dryness and dullness are no longer issues and my curls are popping! Also, a shout out for Lime Crime Venus Eye Shadow Palette for their highly pigmented and blendable colors that last all day.

Paula's choice azelaic acid booster works great to even out my sensitive, acne prone skin! New and/or discovered this year.

They have great pigmentation, glide on beautifully without pulling, and last all day - even with my watery windy-weather eyes!

I love multi-functional products like that cream blush. I haven’t tried Milk yet, but it looks great!

My favorite find this year is this brow balm from Elate Cosmetics:

It fills in my brows without them looking drawn-on. Plus, you can buy the bamboo compact once, and then purchase plastic-free refills. They even come packaged in plantable paper sleeves.

Mine is R + Co hair thickening style foam. You don't need a lot of it, so the bottle lasts a long time. It adds a ton of volume to fine hair!

These are all so great!

I’m also a convert to Kiehl’s hair styling Creme with Silk Groom — it’s great in a very small amount for a touch of control and anti-frizz for my wavy hair.

Also, Benefit’s Precisely My Brow Pencil is my new favorite brow tool.

I'm going to check out the Milk products, thanks for the recommendation! The blush sounds like just what I need.

My personal faves this year have been Olaplex hair products. They have totally banished the frizzy-hair blues from my life. And a huge thank you to our beloved rachylou for recommending the brand, it's been a game-changer!

@xtabay: I totally agree with you on the Olaplex products! After years of bleaching/flat-ironing/tormenting my hair, this stuff has given me soft, strong hair.

I'm in the minority, as I have very oily, acne prone skin, despite being in my mid-50's. I struggle with products for "mature" skin, which is usually dry. With that in mind, I found Cover FX Mattifying Primer which is fab for me.

I also realized the power of having eyebrows! Benefit Brows is great for me.

Thanks for the Milk recommendation, Janet. Cream blushes work much better than powdered ones on my dry skin. I used Mac’s cream blushes for years and loved their light, easy-to-blend formula. Then the company discontinued them. Curses! Haven’t found a good replacement yet, and I’ve been hoarding the remnants of the few old Mac blushes I had left. Lord only knows how old they are! Can’t wait to check out Milk.

My new fav is Covergirl' concealer with soft-brush pen applicator. There is just one problem: I got the first one from TJMax and it's already discontinued ( it was "healthy concealer" with vitamins E, B3, B5 ), got second - and it was different formula/too dry, third was "true blend-brightening" - great again and n/a, found new one -"simply ageless fix advanced concealer" and it's soft tip ( not brush-pen ).
Just wondering - why bring new things that often when it was perfectly fine first time around? I liked it so much - I used first one almost too much/all around my face and got compliments on the absence of sun spots ( it was that well covered ).

I decided to try Dr Hauschka eyeliners and lipstick and am very much liking them. They go on easy. No drag. I’m paranoid about needing surgery one day for drooping eyelids...

Mine are more for body skin and hair. A trio that helps combat ingrowns:

Serious Serum: gentle AHA/BHA exfoliatior. Good for face, too!
Fur Oil: softens coarse body hair and moisturizes skin.

Skleer: an incredible spot treatment ointment that both heals and calms down inflammation. Also good for face.

All 3 are safe and gentle to use on the bikini zone, too, though my calves are my problem areas (sweaty running Creating friction.)

I have been enjoying Benefit brow products too and have found myself using that daily.

I had a no buy for makeup for most of 2019 - except for replacements when used up. I did add a new lip colour later in the year and a new eyeliner colour-jade green. I am not sure about the jade yet but it is fun with one or two pieces.

Oh, I just caught on it’s a two in one! That is my absolute fave kind of product. I can’t find the Jane Iredale multistick anymore. I will try the Milk!

Kari, that’s interesting. I have keratosis pilaris (mostly on thighs, I used to have more on my upper arms as well but that seems calmer in the last few years) and have trouble with it especially in winter. I wonder if those products would help.

Good to know. I only use cream products on my dry skin and love the Clinique cream stick blush. My new product this year was Wen cleansing conditioner. I read all the bad reviews and the product ingredients and gave it a go. The gal that cuts my hair says she has never seen my fin hair so healthy.

This is a fun read! Now that my hair is longer I have been experimenting with products for a modified curly girl method type hair. I use Hairgenics Pronexa once a week, then I alternate with Original Moxie Emollience. I also use Original Moxie Hair Bling to add shine to my very thick wavy/curly hair. My hair has been easy to manage and in amazing condition despite its growing length.

I found my red lip this year. I used the color drape process from Elea Blake. It seemed pricey until I realized how many tubes of lip color I had tried and tossed. Now I have the perfect shade in a product I love: Hot Blooded. I did the same process for my foundation. They make a new liquid mineral foundation that I love. I have a custom color that they can tweak for the warm seasons when I have more pigment in my skin.

Missha First Treatment Essence (now I'm trying the Intensive one) -- I actually found this a few years ago. I use it with my same moisturizer in the winter for the extra moisture I need without having to change lotions.

Bumble and Bumble Sumotech for styling my (newish) short hair - nice light scent and doesn't weigh my hair like other clay/pomades have in the past.

I've been wanting to try a cream blush, so I'll check the Milk product out! Trying to avoid powdery cheeks

@rachylou - glad for the eyeliner rec. "Drag" is the worst. I'm almost at the end of the LM cake liner I use now (which is very nice!), but I do love to try a new product!

With age my once very thick eye brows are now sparse. OST eyebrow pencils are black. I found the NYX Eye row powder pencil at Nordstrom Rack in blonde ( quite neutral) to work well for me. Most pencils are too red or dark. This one could be lighter but works ok. I like that it is like a pencil and can be sharpened but has a little spiral brush at one end. Most pencils that I have tried you turn to get the color out like an automatic pencil. These break off quickly and do not last very long.
I will see if my computer allows me to do a find and add it.

The Ordinary skincare serums, buffet and hyaleurolic acid plus the squaline cleanser have softened my skin.

Davines Oi shampoo and conditioner are great for not weighing down fine hair.

Benefit Gimme Brows is the best brow gel that is easy to apply, and natural looking- a much better match for me than the Anastasia brow gel. I have gotten complements on my brows a couple of times.

Looking for a good anti aging eye cream now -any recommendations?
