My favorite Inauguration outfit

It was worn by Ella Emhoff, Kamala Harris’ step-daughter. Her coat was very different from the others. It was embellished plaid. Plus, I love that she wore glasses. She is a student at Parsons School of Design.

So happy that FLOTUS/Dr. B and VP Harris chose to highlight emerging American and designers of color. Those turquoise gloves!! Kamala is radiant in purple, a symbolic color of unity since purple is a combination of red and blue.
An incredible day as I watched my former senator from my home state of Delaware and the first African American and South Asian woman take their respective oaths of office.

I love Ella's coat --- I think she's wearing an over-color that is beaded, which is a great way to dress up the coat for special occasions like this. The collar highlights her face.

I didn’t see the sparkles, either. It was lovely on her. The color was perfect.

We have come to expect fabulous looks from Michelle Obama, and she didn’t let us down.

My son’s GF and I both mentioned Gaga’s meat dress. Her outfit was very nice, especially the bird pin, but it was no meat dress.

If matchy-matchy + monochrome wasn’t a mainstream trend before, it definitely is now!

My faves:

FLOTUS! I’m dying over the matching gloves and shoes, although I preferred the neutral shoes she changed into.

Kamala! Everything about her outfit was perfect.

Pelosi: I loved how, when she removed her coat, her shoes bookended her mask. I also love how perfectly tailored her dress was.

Hillary: honestly, this is one of the most stylish pantsuits I’ve ever seen her wear.

Loved the Biden granddaughters in their monochrome outfits.

J Lo looked like an angel in all white

Gaga... shades of Daphne Guinness, and I’m here for it.

And finally... Michelle Obama was the sartorial mic drop. She totally upstaged everybody she shared a camera frame with.

They all looked amazing ... Nuance dream, I noticed a few shades of purple and remembered the meaning you mention from one of Angie's blog posts a few years ago on election day ...

I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite as the slate of beautiful and admirable women was full, but Madam VP is always flawless; I only wish I had an ounce of whatever style genetics she's got. Amanda Gorman shone in every possible way too.

Some of the outfit color significance was lost on me because on my TV monitor, VP Harris’s coat looked cobalt, and Michelle’s outfit appeared burgundy! Showed up better on my phone later.
But very fab all around.
I vote pantsuits for staying warm, partly by what you can wear underneath, plus footwear choices.
Unless they could wear boots and tights.

Ella Emhoff looks so wonderfully relatable and fun. I saw her outfit and thought, "There's someone I could hang out with." I appreciate that she's managed to stay largely out of the public eye up 'til now, and hit just the right note with her "debut".

Ella Emhoff, wow. New style crush! And hearing now that she is a design student makes perfect sense. I like how individual she looks, while being perfectly dressed for the occasion.

Amanda Gorman's style, her carriage, her poise, her stunning hair and well placed accessories really made an impression on me, too.

It gives me such hope to see these prominent young women showing us how to rock their unique power styles on the national stage.
